    2019 CMass boys D1

Just weeks away ! Thoughts ??
It’s quite obvious Fitchburg, Burncoat, North Middlesex will be non factors!
So that leaves just about 14-15 other teams.

    1. Marlborough and Tantasqua lost entire teams of quality players
    2. Wachusett has the best scorer in central mass returning and actually returns many players
    3. Saint johns brings back core of its players and had great underclass
    4. Worcester South has been split up as they will not have The two co-op schools they have had in past years
    5. Shepherd Hill was extremely young last year
    6. Westborough and groton-Dunstable both return a good core
    7. Doherty and Worcester North will be average or below
    8. Grafton plays no solid teams, in weak conference, and lost many
    9. Algonquin no superstars or scorers, like past few years, but have good overall numbers and average talent
    10. Leominster bring back talent and could be a favorite

Like the other poster said NM and Fitchburg are not any factor

This year is an open year unlike the past 2-3 years

This looks mostly right. Think Wachusett will be better than people think.

They went from like 5 wins to 12 wins with a first year coach. They will be fine.

Top 3 teams will be Leominster, Wachusett and St. John’s.
A dangerous team that will surprise will be Groton-Dunstable

The best kids from all teams graduated last year. The league will be much weaker competition. St. John’s and Leominster should be in the hunt for district. Wachusett will do ok Marlboro will struggle

I will believe Leominster come middle of the season. Can't put them at the top without seeing how they start the season. Sorry not convinced. Certainly not convinced about GD. They had been average once they moved up to div 1.

Wait and see on Wachusett as they still have their scorer, but they did lose some good players. Yet the year before they lost a ton of quality players and ended up winning CMass. Not sure who they had coming up. Usually have large pool coming out as one of the biggest schools.

St John's should be certainly in the top 3. Lost all star ctr back, but still should be good.

Leominster returns just about entire team.

Wachusett returns probably one of the best strikers in state plus ball skilled CMs but lost entire defense.

Algonquin returns a solid GK and many players from last years but still no scoring threat for the third year in a row

Tantasqua & Marlboro are decimated from star players that filled roster last year

Saint johns has talent returning, a quality striker, youth moving up from JV teams but lost some quality players from last year that made the team function

It seems Westborough puts a consistent team out there every year now with good players

Shrewsbury lost best player to DA and many defenders from last year but do have 4-5 solid players returning

Hard to predict a true number 1 this year

Was told that Grafton beat Leominster in a scrimmage. Just a scrimmage but could be a little bit telling about both squads.

SJ, Wachusett, Marlboro would seemingly be in the top tier.
The others seem they would be weak - Westboro, Algonquin, Leominster, Tantasqua, Worcester, Shrewsbury all seem to be nothing special.

Who did SJ, Wachusett and Marlboro all lose? Hard to say a particular team is going to do super well just because they have a single stud. Which school has the best group of players.

SJS beat Gonk pretty bad 5-1.

Marlboro lost to SH....not a good start and is there more to come for this team or a fluke?
