    Getting Coach Removed

A handful of us are banding together to try and get our coach removed.
We do not like his coaching style and have made it clear to the DOC, as a group, that we will leave mid-season if a replacement coach is not granted to us.

The team is actually a very good team and we have picked up some great players recently which have really moved this team forward from where it was.
But us leaving will leave the team short handed so the club is strongly considering our request.

We feel with adequate training we can and should be even better and from watching the training we can tell that it is not great. Other teams have the best coaches but not ours and that is not fair. The coach is also mean at times.

Has anyone here successfully forced out a coach mid-season or seen it done?

I don't think the YMCA removes coaches mid-season but you can try.

I have seen it done before at the West Florida Flames. The DOC was the assistant coach of the team so they asked for him to take over. It is not something you see everyday....

          What club??

So the other half or more are OK with coach. So you forced the coach out and the others walk then. Smart.

We have not forced the coach out yet but are trying.
We've tried recruiting some of the others, but about 2/3 of them seem indifferent, not with or not against the current coach.
We are the ones who pay attention and know what proper training should be.
Once we get a better coach, the other parents should be fine because the team is really good, they will not leave no matter what happens.

Just a couple words of caution...they have your money and you are obligated to the team and club unless you are released. Just dont over-estimate the leverage you have. And from experience, be careful about the strength of you parent-alliance. Some people will back away from the line when it's time for action. And DOC's can be painfully loyal to coaches. You may be stuck until next season.

You know what proper training should be? Sign up and coach a team then. Save the world..

So I take it your son or daughter is not getting playing time you expect and certainly this is not a U14 and above team if your using "mean". Finish out the season.

No, not making this up. And not bluffing.

It is great to see parents teaching their daughters to be quitters. My guess is you were never a successful athletes. No, Pee Wee leagues and High School do not count.

And everyone else but your daughter has the beat coach? They all share the same coach or in your quitter ways did the meaning of “best” escape your tiny quitter head? Want a blanky?

Please provide name of club and age group. While it would be great to get the names of the opposing parents perhaps you can name your group to not make it so obvious.

My experience; Clubs usually side with the coach unless the coach is doing something against the rules of the club or league. Parents banning together is not a new thing. This happens all the time. They want a good coach and feel that they paid for a good coach. When they don't get it, it pisses them off.
I hate to say it but finish out the season and get a good coach next year.
