Debt rising to unsustainable levels. We're spending as much on debt service as we do on the military. We're one crisis away from bankruptcy. Trump is good at bankruptcy.

He's nervously tweeting about Mueller so we might get a chance to bail the country out soon

Please don’t tell me the Dems are now worried about the debt. Where were u when BO raised it over 74% by added over 9 trillion dollars? Compared to Bush 4.9 and Clinton 1.5 trillion you can’t be serious. You know, you can always blame Trump. You do for everything else. ;)

Dems are not worried about the debt. Voting americans are. We are americans before we are Dems or R right?

Both parties are responsible for this mess, but your savior is not making it any better.

The problems are not 2018 problems, they will be felt down the road. We as a society have enormous difficulties solving problems that are not being felt immediately.

Trump is absolutely an embarrassment and will go down in history as one of our worst presidents. He appeals to our baser instincts, our medulla oblongata, our lizard brain. A surprising number of americans find his brand of racial fear mongering convincing.

Know what's also embarrassing: the fact that the democrats cannot defeat this clown. That significant numbers of young people and minorities still do not show up to vote.

Obama spent to get us out a of ruinous recession caused by failed Bush presidency policies (and who also took over a very healthy balance sheet from Clinton). It had shrunk down to $500M by the time Obama left office - because, that's what you do. You pay off debt when you the means. Instead Trump has ratcheted it back up to to $1.2B in TWO years and wants to spend more. No recession to claw out of. It's almost going to the wealthy and corporations.

When BO talks about "medicare for all" as an objective, yes, I am concerned about the fiscal impact of this. But i think it's a worthy goal, although one that maybe we can't afford. When Trump talks about giving millionaires tax breaks, i feel it is neither a good idea fiscally, nor a worthy goal for our society. I feel hemmed in between two poor choices.

Going back to BO and the left, i don't think a majority of americans are on board with more state control of the economy. The democratic party's left wing is strongly trending in this direction. this vision (more state control of the economy) needs to be sorted out and explained very carefully before i think a "progressive" gets a large percentage of a presidential vote. most people - rightly so - equate socialism with a slippery slope ending in a command economy and a contraction of individual liberties.

sadly there is nothing of any substance coming from the R party other than racial hatred and fear mongering. this is unfortunate b/c the traditional R perspective of limited government has deep roots in the republic and i think needs advocates that spreads this message in a reasonable manner. as long as trump is in power, fiscal conservatism really has no advocate and we are left to choose between a poorly defined progressive "socialism" and a R party that is more concerned about a caravan of poor asylum seekers from central america than the fiscal challenges facing this nation in 10 years.

Funny, never heard one of you complaining about the debt over the last eight years. Now it’s about the good of America? What a joke!

Well you know, calling other “deplorables” kinda appeals to ones base don’t ya think. Saying black males all look alike is a tad bit racist too. But it’s none of my business! :)

Great examples. When HRC, a horrible candidate, I agree, made her deplorables comment, you know what shortly followed ? An apology. She realized that while it could be true it was not correct for an aspirant to the presidency and much less for a president. Trump started with calling Mexican rapists. And ever since there’s been no apology. He’s doubled, tripled, quadrupled down on the race baiting. And here now we have the results : despite a solid economy, a huge number of Americans are turned off by the lies and hate mongering and vote against him and his party. No one is perfect. But to correct course shows growth and evolution at least. Trump doesn’t want to ever admit he does anything wrong and this is a massive flaw when his “wrongs” are tearing the country apart.

From fairly centrist sources, not Mother Jones :) . You the tRump sheeple are the ones who need to wake up. He's going to bankrupt this country like his failed casinos, only it's the American people who will take a haircut this time, not banks.

"The U.S. Federal deficit was $587 billion in Obama’s last year and it grew to $666 billion in Trump’s first year of his presidency. I’ve been reviewing a report from the U.S. Treasury Department, which shows that the U.S. Federal Deficit will probably increase this year (fiscal 2018), could come close to if not exceed $1 trillion in fiscal 2019 and will likely exceed $1 trillion in fiscal 2020 and beyond. And this is before the additional deficits created by the tax reform bill and the just passed two year budget. Note that the U.S. fiscal year ends in September." https://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckjo.../#2072b45544f2

He promised that the tax cut would pay for itself - it is not https://www.cnbc.com/2018/10/16/trum...-promises.html

On the campaign trail, Trump first proposed a $10 trillion tax cut, far larger than any Republican rival's, but insisted it wouldn't boost the federal budget deficit because the economy would "take off like a rocket ship." Though Trump sharply pared back this proposal, he continued to maintain the deficit wouldn't rise. That claim was politically important for congressional Republicans who used it to convince holdout lawmakers to vote yes. But even as growth has accelerated, the Treasury reported that the 2018 deficit swelled to $779 billion. That level, the highest in six years, marks a 17 percent increase over 2017.

Let’s be honest here. Hillary’s “apology” was as half-ass as you could get. You don’t apologize followed by but and blame. She, like Trump, is shameless. She’s never apologized for anything. Not to the women Bill raped after she shamed and harassed them. Not to the families of those killed in Benghazi. Just blame blame blame.

Given all that. What’s the Dems plan? How are they gonna do it better? BO said Trump would need a “magic wand” to get the GDP to 4%. Goes to show he had no clue. All I here from Dems is Trump sucks. What’s the plan?
