A great 7-5 season got the football coach an extension. Ha that’s a joke.
5-5 against teams with an RPI better than 60.

In 6 seasons the football coach’s record is 38-38. But he got an extension.

I’m not good at math. Take the last 6 years of Foley’s career. What’s her record?

This describes 90% of NCAA WSOC.

Why would anyone ever go from BC to URI?

^ Maybe it wasn' t her choice (to go to a winless team).

I think the right phrase is "try to play". Yes, there are some bad to average coaches; just like there are really good, some average, and a few horrible teachers - yet MASS proficiency scores for reading and writing are what, 50% statewide? S

Kids are in school about 20% of their daytime/awake hours in a year; kids are in training for only a fraction of the time during the year. Coaches can't play for the kids; teachers can't take the MCAS. At some point, kids have to have the drive to watch and learn, practice on their own, look for chances to play pickup (clubs could do better there), stay fit/get sleep/good nutrition, etc.

Most kids top out at high school, the rest at college, few go to high D1 (or D2/D3) programs, and just a select few to professional or main WNT so the vast majority would rather spend time on other things - and that's great. One of the problems is at the earliest ages we - coaches, parents, administrators - put kids in the situation where it's about winning so athleticism with kick and run works well to notch the goals and the W's.

And as much as USSF and USYS want to claim "small sided game emphasis" I point to the growth of having U12 state cup and even regional championships!

I have watched in astonishment what the local clubs don't teach. And yes, they tell the girls to kick it down the field just to try to get a win; not work it down the field. Kick it down the field. That's kick and run.

So is it just SC transferring? And with the one time transfer exception, would she have to sit out if she went inter-conference to Duke (as some have said)?

Twenty years ago, schools hired anyone to coach, particularly women’s soccer. Times have changed. She has never had the reputation for being a good coach. She recruited some good players, particularly when they wanted to stay local, but lost a lot too.

In a p5 conference, she did well for the most part. Not a lot of kids including local enjoy playing and practicing in the cold and sometimes snow when you have conf teams in better weather.

This is completely and utterly untrue. And she got players on the national team to stay local; you think they did that just because of geography? Had nothing to do with her as a coach?

Go have some eggnog and stop spreading lies. You've probably never even seen her in person in your life.

She did? who ? Are you sure the players you speak of had "better" options?

Can you imagine playing and practicing soccer in Tallahassee in Aug/Sep? Yet they won twice this decade. Mich St, Indiana, and Akron were in this Men's College cup. Pretty cold places. Lose the weather excuse.

She constantly loses NT players. SC this year, SH to Stanford 2 years ago.
