WPFC also subsidizes their ECNL teams but they do not advertise it openly. Not exactly sure why not. It has been up to $1500.00 per player depending on how many out of state trips the player makes. Definitely not as generous as Crossfire but it almost cancels out the club fees.

Does anyone else know what the other 3 ECNL teams chip in to help offset the overall costs?

Funny thing is that DA’s enforcement of its no high school rule was wildly inconsistent. XF added impact players who had played hs to their da teams in the spring after it became clear their ecnl teams were going nowhere. Reign added a couple players who had played hs too. Meanwhile, quakes, who played in the da semis last year, are sitting in last place in u18/19 because that club actually enforced the no hs time and didn’t let their ynt players come back after they chose to play hs during the cal winter hs season that coincided with most of the winter break in the da season. Da should either enforce its rules or change them so that kids can play hs. Letting some kids play hs but others not is ridiculous.

By not enforcing their own rules, not punishing clubs that don’t follow the rules, and not being consistent with policies, US Soccer looks weak, powerless and incompetent. Make the rules you think are best and enforce them or change them. We’ve all seen how the kids turn out whose parents don’t enforce their rules.

I think the only "rule" is you can't play both HS and club at the same time.

It is pretty much up to the club to decide.

The season is a 10 month season whether you allow kids to play HS or not.

If you allow kids to play HS, how many kids will not want to play HS if you give them an option to play both DA and HS. Instead of a 20 player roster, you may need a 30 player roster because 10 of the kids want to play HS.

How many players will you need to carry on your roster because your Spring time roster will look a lot different than your Fall roster.

From the DA rules (https://ussoccer.app.box.com/s/wk8nm...8pvwywmdkklzju, page 10):

4.Academy Players currently registered with an DA Club have committed to forgo participating in both the Academy and high school or middle school soccer.

a)Players who participate in high/middle school soccer are ineligible to participate in Academy practice and competition during that same season.

b)Only players who have been granted a waiver by the League Office will be allowed to remain on their clubs Academy roster during the high school soccer season(waivers are not available for middle school). This waiver must be received by DA office before September 1, 2018,to be considered for the roster exemption. The waiver eligibility guidelines are as follows:
(1)Players who receive consideration or financial aid to attend a private high school based on their participation with the soccer team are eligible
(2)Although clubs are not limited to a specific number of waivers, the number is naturally self-limiting to field a full team throughout the Academy season.
(3)Players registered with a Development DA Club will not be allowed to re-enter the program during the same season after participating in the high school season with their current or a different DA Club.

Don’t think there’s any issue with anyone breaking the rules. Just seems absurd that the kids from California (where hs is in the winter, largely overlapping with a break in the da season) were not allowed to play the spring portion of the da season, whereas da teams from wa were allowed to load up with kids who had played hs in the fall so long as they weren’t previously registered as ft da players.
