well you have those on this blog that insist the Stars tournament will still take place and you actually have Stars grabbing more money by extending the age groups, even though everyone knows there will not be a tournament-lol talk about a money grab!

Maybe. If any state starts getting more cases then travel to other states could be limited or those other states won't welcome you. This fall will require great flexility and apreciation when things go off as planned.

I agree that “tournaments” like stars cup won’t happen... or high school for that matter. However, our neighboring states are doing a good job of keeping Covid rates down. If Massachusetts, which is bordered by all states doing well, can’t hold a tournament then nobody can, which is too bad

If there's even a hint schools might have to close again because cases are creeping up, states will shut almost everything down where kids can transmit in a non school setting. Keeping kids in school is far more important.

One IN school district had a case their first day or reopening and had to close. Summer schools had cases. Summer camps had lots of cases. Yes kids will nearly all do very well with the virus, but people have been lulled into thinking they're not a contributor to viral spread because they haven't been in school since March. Put them back together and guess what's going to happen?

I know whats going to happen. Kids will get the virus, they will recover, they will be fine. To me its either all in or all out, hybrid solves nothing... like between a poo and a fart.

Bayside is also hosting their preseason event, with same restrictions as Stars!

What a strange comment, especially coming from what I'd assume to be an adult. Why on earth would you want to be right about this so badly?

people have also been lulled by all that data from other countries that went back to school soon after they got their general population numbers under control and have been in school since (no summer vacation schedule like US) and were not able to trace a single confirmed case back to a child. That research shows that it's far more likely that the kid gets the virus from their family vs the other way around

There's a big difference between wanting to be right and reminding the Pollyannas of the world that their rosy predictions about fall soccer were terribly naive.

We should be clear. All of us, including those that predicted that there would be no fall club soccer, want there to be sports in the fall. Just because we looked at the trends, the potential logistical hurdles, the politics and the stubborn shortsightedness of Americans and projected that there would be no sports in the fall doesn't mean that we wanted to be right. The guy who finds the asteroid that is about to destroy the planet doesn't want to be right, but he still needs to make his prediction.
