If things get worse the state can shut them down as well. As it is most I've heard of are only partly opening, with a combo of in person and online

I doubt you would ask "public" colleges and universities to justify their costs or profitablity, let alone private ones

and what private school thinks-okay we need to create a great ciriculum and student experience so that when a pandemic comes, we can say tuition is "justified"

The private schools as usual have done a better job of dealing with educating through the Spring and have worked hard to be ready for as full and as normal an Fall as possible
Private schools also have fewer students to keep track of (to make sure they don't fall behind), families generally have more resources for high speed internet and an extra laptop(s) so kids can get their work done, better able to afford a spouse to stay home to supervise kids. Many public schools do not have any of that going for them. Those are the types of schools that need to be open - kids without reliable access or equipment, parents that can't help (ESL parents help with your science homework? or they have to work) are the ones who need to be back in school the most

These assumptions are mostly prejudiced and incorrect
The "they don't have a laptop or high speed internet" is flat out wrong.
All google classroom and zoom is available via smart phone on an LTE.
99% of households own mutiple phones or ipads that can communicate.
"parents with money" is NO comparioson to the amount of government $$$, ever.
The parents that pay tuition demand a voice in the school and accountability-BIG DIFFERENCE

The original points were that schools are not prepared but that is not the case.
Many private and charter schools have planned better for this Fall-and yes with less money.

We all want safety and learning but it's not right to say that all schools are in the same boat and are unprepared for a full and safe Fall semester.

Or you can come to MFA? We are practicing and having scrimmages against each other at every session

Daughter’s club coach said there’s a 10 percent chance there’s a fall HS season. Then went on to explain what the club would be doing, what league / division club would be playing the kids in so they had fall soccer if / when schools bailed.

Oh for sure HS will get cancelled but I think it starts then get's axed a few weeks after. However, by then not only is it too late for clubs to run much of anything but it may not even be allowed by the state(s). Parents may not want to fork over any additional $ either after the spring debacle and uncertainties about having any semblance of a season at all

I’m hearing clubs are requiring payment of all fees (paid in full) and making sure they put pandemic clauses in the contract so no refunds or credits will be granted under any circumstances. It’s a business folks

Not true for STA. They specifically changed their refund policy to state it would be returned.

I wonder how they define the “season taking place “ though.

To clubs, zoom workouts count as a "season"
