This seems pretty unrealistic. There is no way any school can field a football team in the spring. All of their best athletes compete in multiple sports including lacrosse, baseball and track. These Connecticut kids are more likely to play college sports in these other sports and would not be willing to do football instead.

You paint with very broad brush strokes my friend. Talk about over generalizing.

I dont know one starter on our football team that is not an elite athlete in a spring sport as well. My guess in that once football gets postponed by the CIAC that individual schools will start opting out completely.

I hear what you’re saying, but you can’t predict what sport all of these “elite athletes” will want to play or what their go to sport is.

If CIAC decides to move soccer to the spring, then HS soccer will not exist. Every serious club player will clearly choose club.

Particularly the small schools. This is CT where a big school is 1600. In another state this would not be a problem. Some southern high schools are 4-5k students. Not nearly as many multi sport athletes because of size and specificity or focus on one sport.

Don’t know how reliable his source is but evidently CIAC is considering moving all sports to 2021 with this schedule:

winter sports in Jan and Feb; fall sports March and April; spring sports May and June.

With all of the baseball action going on around the state we should have data on this as a model for other sports. Connecticut is doing well with regard to positivity rate and overall cases. Lets take this information and utilize it by allowing for schools to open and sports to be played. Lots of people talk like we need another shutdown but really Connecticut has been in that mode already. Let us give the country the model they need for re-opening smartly by using the data.

The majority of HS soccer players are not players.

If it's moved and even if CIAC waived the no club rules, most club players will still focus on club. It will absolutely hurt the quality of HS soccer but not the ability to field a team.

Ok so the football committee is recommending postponement but the full CIAC will vote to leave it place for the fall? 🤔🤔🤔 sure that will happen

Football and wrestling are more challenging then all other sports.
Soccer, LAX, Baseball, field Hockey, softball are all happening right now all over the state. There have not been any significant increase in cases, but more importantly in hospitalization for Covid or deaths.
Virus ran it course here. No second wave is coming.
How long do people continue to live in fear?
We lived through the worst part Jan - March 15 and no one knew it.
                            Time to move on.

Agree with your first two points. Indoor volleyball is also tricky.

The remainder of your post is completely off base.

Jan-March 15 did a lot of damage her in Connecticut but it still only infected as much as 10% of the population and only in the areas close to NY. If we dont stay vigilante we can easily have another wave for the remaining 90% that have not been infected yet.
