    No games?!!!

Latest talk is that the overseers of HS sports in NJ are talking about having kids participate in team practices throughout the fall, but NO GAMES. First, no balls, now NO GAMES!

No scores! No bother. Everyone gets a participation trophy. Varsity letters for any kid who can show up all fall for practices without the prospect of games.

Let’s just kill HS sports for good right now. Talk about no balls!

    Sing along:

    “Goodbye NJSIAA.
    Goodbye NJSIAA...
We’re glad to see you go...”

Where are you hearing this talk? I can see this as the schools have enough to deal with without worrying about sports

In states like Florida with cases upon cases, yes because it's not actually safe (for kids, teachers, administrators, families, etc.) to be in school. In New Jersey, no, kids will be back in school in person at least partially unless there is a spike in cases. Teachers actually want to work (the majority), and their union agrees that it is safe in nj if precautions are taken. If you have an issue with that then home school your kid, put them in a private program, or move.

As long as they still get paid and online learning is made a joke.

Schools should refund 90% of tax money, enroll all kids middle school and up in an accredited online learning school (home schools have been using them for years) and furlough most of the administrators, teachers and staff for the year.

Agree. No way they should keep funding if they don’t go to work.

I do have an issue if our tax money goes to people who don’t go to work. I do not want to pay for both. Just one.

Hybrid and online only models will include live teaching this year instead of what happened in the spring. If your kid was supposed to be in social studies for 40 min three times a week, then they will need to sit in front of a zoom call with their teacher and classmates for 40 min three times a week (if online only). Teachers are working hard to digitize tests, quizzes, notes, activities, etc. so that the school year can actually happen. Teachers are technically off right now and working anyway to get ready. During the school year, teachers will be working the same (if not more) hours.

The real reason a lot of people want schools to open isn't because they care about their kids education, it's because they think it's a day care service so they can go to work. On a basic level, a school is literally a place you send your kids and you happen to be free because of it to go to work. Just because you need it to be open and open a certain way doesn't mean it should be.

You're right. People who work from home shouldn't be paid.
