    Moron.
NESCAC is a self created elite conference that is supported by parents who’s kids can’t get into Ivy League schools. You drop 55k a year for high school and need to justify it by the kid going to Bates to get a history degree.

Guess what, as someone who hires kids into Financial services every year, I’m taking the Fairfield or Marist kids all day. The liberal arts degree is a dinosaur now especially in this brutal environment.

Perhaps Wesleyan etc helps you hold serve at the local cocktail parties but for 75k a year there are better options

PS. Sorry your kid couldn’t get on a D1 roster. If you were so smart then you would have bypassed club soccer entirely and just saved for college. With the exception of Williams, any half way decent high school player simply walks onto a NESCAC team provided Dad pays the bill.

Not sure about Marist or Wesleyan grads getting hired into big-paying jobs. The others are pretty good.

Marist 10 year salary is $59K

Fairfield 10 year salary is $77.1K
      https://www.collegesimply.com/colleg...sity/outcomes/

Wesleyan 10 year salary is $58K
      https://www.collegesimply.com/colleg...sity/outcomes/

Middlebury 10 year salary is $72.4K
      https://www.collegesimply.com/colleg...lege/outcomes/

Williams 10 year salary is $73.6K
      https://www.collegesimply.com/colleg...lege/outcomes/

Amherst 10 year salary is $82K
      https://www.collegesimply.com/colleg...lege/outcomes/

Tufts 10 year salary is $83.1K
      https://www.collegesimply.com/colleg...sity/outcomes/

Yale 10 year salary is $118.4K

As far as women's soccer goes, Williams was ranked behind Amherst and Middlebury at the end of this season, and Tufts won NESCAC regular season.

NY residents with an income <$100K don't pay tuition. That make NY NY schools a great deal

These broad salary ranges are only so useful. A school with strong business, engineering or premed programs will have higher numbers. The more relevant, but not available, comparison is say a business degree at one school vs another.

Interestingly, Mark Cuban and others have said that they believe liberal arts degrees will become more important because jobs like finance will be replaced with automation/technology. And Microsoft did a study that showed that communication skills are the #1 most important skill that leads to success in business.

You can still get a STEM or business degree without ignoring communication skills. I do think schools that funnel kids straight into an undergrad business program do them a disservice. The first year+ should have a mixture of classes in your intended major plus a range of other classes like english/writing/communications, history, a science class (baby bio for non pre meds) etc. Often times students find the major they thought they wanted isn't what they actually want. I went to a great school with very strong STEM programs but the school also required all of that. I ended up double majoring in something useful and something not as employable but something I loved.

Exactly. Getting a good education is very valuable. Why do you want your kid going through life lacking important information from multiple disciplines that other well educated people will have learned?

FYI - the English Department at Yale University is their largest department overall with 80+ faculty members.

Fwiw, Ivy League was a self-created elite conference that is supported by wealthy families whose kids go there via legacy admissions.

I totally agree and to that end the NESCAC is the NPL of “elite” colleges. You play high end club soccer but it’s definitely not the IVY and you get the pleasure of dropping 80k a year.

These days most kids needs grad school. Schools like that NESCAC only make sense if you make 800k a year and it doesn’t matter or make 75k a year. For everyone it’s lousy value proposition.

Boo hoo. Perfect response from a typical whining soccer mom.

If it's the perfect place for their student athlete then yes it's very justifiable. That is ultimately what matters. If half off also means graduating with no debt? Even better, especially if grad school is in the plan. Each students athlete and family has different criteria. Stop being a judgy POS.

Rule of thumb on this site: If someone trashes a school, club, post season accolade, whatever, their kid couldn’t/didn’t get it.
