Hartford Athletic is trying to play nice as the new kid on the block in CT youth soccer. However, to be taken seriously as the State's only pro soccer club they will have to start/invest in a real academy and put in the effort in developing local talent.

Are they afraid of ******* off BS, OW, FSA and CFC? Time to put the big boy pants on! Revs, NYCFC, and Red Bulls are the top of the pyramid, and HA should aspire to the same status.

It is too early for HA to antagonize youth clubs in CT....they are treading very lightly, which is a smart move. Don't burn any bridges.

Yes, at some point in the future they will need to take the deep dive into development academy soccer. USL will push them to do it, and as the only professional soccer club in the State they need to make a commitment to the CT soccer community.

Right now HA has to worry about its own financial viability and USL knows that. There won't be any pushing of anything for the next year +

Yes. USL knows the situation is fragile, but HA will eventually need to step up with a true academy program to be taken more seriously as a member of the CT soccer community. They need to establish themselves as the top dog in the State.

Most logical move would be to acquire FSA (and their facilities) and move the youth program from ECNL to the USL Academy League. OW is another option perhaps.

With what money? It's a brand new team that not only did horribly last year, but they are essentially not running this year. They have other financial priorities right now - survival.

An expansion franchise that happened to be in the USL .... no promotion, just pay a boatload of money to existing MLS owners (which continues to make many teams look profitable int he short term) .... but you jumped on late .... expansion is dwindling. Back to my earlier response ..... you're an idiot. Paying to be an expansion club and getting promoted are totally different things and the the former has probably come to an end finally. USL teams have no money, have no path to MLS, dand are not getting nice transfer payments .... USL is even lower than single-a baseball .... cute to catch a game in new britain, bridgeport or norwich and catch a future star in the MLB (happens a lot) ..... no one in USL is becoming a star in even MLS, let alone the world's stage. USL is small potatoes and broke ..... they have no money to create a real system ... most clubs barely stay above water for one year in 5 if they are lucky. They have no resources and are entirely 2nd fiddle. Wouldnt it be great if the Norwich Navigators created free AAU teams for boys and girls at every age? That would be neato! DUMMY!
