You may bash large universities to your heart's content, but without knowing what the individual's major is, it is impossible for you or anyone to assess what they should or should not have done. You seem to put great stock into overall school ratings, which IMO, are generally vastly overrated, but even the "lower" ranked schools have excellent programs in specific majors.

The fact is, that in the 21st century, the vast majority of careers require an advanced degree. And where you get that advanced degree is much more critical than where your undergrad degree is from, especially the older you get.

Go ahead and lambast those who are getting $150-200K off of their undergrad costs all you want, but not graduating with mega school loan debt gives a young professional a lot more career flexibility entering the work force than someone heavily in debt.

You're awfully invested in pushing a paradigm that isn't what people actually do.
Isn't that special. Daddy wants to brag about his college soccer player so he buys his kid an education just so he can wear a uniform. This is precisely what face savers say and how they justify what they do.

They do know where Holy Cross, Lafayette, or Lehigh is and just as you say most will make the decision to choose one of them or another comparable D1 if they get offered a scholarship. The truth of the matter is though, the average soccer player isn't really looking at these sorts of schools because they just don't have the grades to get into them and so what they are really looking at are places like Wheaton and Wooster and comparing them against places like Quinnipiac and Bryant and most decisions will still favor the D1 schools because of the scholarship money.
I KNEW I wasn't confused. You are. The point is that a kid might not get offers at the more attractive D1s. And of course they won't go to FDU instead and won't even apply, but that MIGHT be the kind of school where they would get an offer if they pursued it because no one wants to go there.

After dropping upwards near $100K on club soccer, the college tuition is not a big deal to them. It's just a blip on their trust fund's ledger. What's more important to them is they want everyone to know what a big deal their kid is. That's why they constantly belabor the prestige of certain D3 institutions and look down their nose at other lower level D3 schools.

Long day for you, BTNT. Your hate really has you agitated. The point was no different than for any other player, scholarship or non-scholarship. You're more likely to go where they want you to play. Nothing bizarre or controversial there in the slightest. But you sure do seem to have a thing about "face-saving." What's that really all about for you?

And now reduced to responding to your own posts. Sad.

Why should he, when your kids have actual talent, they get money thrown at them. Are you saying you wouldn't accept free educations or are you really just pissed that your kid didn't get one?

Spot on. You would think he would help the OP out (himself of course) and offer a profile piece on MCLA.

The only hate here is coming from you. My bet is btdt is laughing all the way to the bank as they say. It's you who seem to be pissed off about it.

BTNT, if it is all about the soccer and the money then who cares about the education, right? Why not just get paid and not go to college at all?

I thought he just lives off of his old man's money? He hasn't exactly put that Duke education to good work.

This one of the shadows, BTNT? LMAO. No anger and hate from you? Then why posting all day? Why perseverating on "face saving"? Why attacking good D3 schools? Do you believe those schools just shouldn't exist at all? Do you think Williams-caliber kids SHOULD go to FDU or Sacred Heart if they got a half-scholarship?

If you are a strong enough soccer player to be recruited by a D1 college with academics suitable for you, that's great! Congrats.

If you need that D1 scholarship to make the numbers for college work, go for it.

Remember though, as BTDT himself points out, D1 sports is a job.

You finally nailed it BTNT. My kid was an average player for a good D3, had a phenomenal overall college experience where the soccer was a key component of that experience, and he starts med school in a few weeks. Yep, we're just beside ourselves about how poorly everything turned out.
