New England D3 w. soccer programs

I am looking for information regarding the programs in the New England region for D3 women's soccer. Our daughter has interest in several schools and their soccer teams.

You came to the wrong place. Go to the program websites and have your daughter email the coaches of the several schools where she has interest.

Let's do this then. D3 is where the bottom of the club team's bench goes so Mommy and Daddy can save face with all of the parents of D1 bound kids on the team. It lets them tell everyone that their kid is playing college soccer but are really in it for the education though so they chose D3. Truth is their kids aren't very good soccer players and there were no D1 offers so D3 was the only place they could go that would let them wear a soccer uniform. The sad part is how those parents let that need for their kid to wear a soccer uniform dictate their college choices and then have such a need to bash the crap out of perfectly fine D1 institutions to justify where they ended up. That's why this thread will inevitably end up with a whole bunch of Sacred Heart vs Williams type scenarios thrown about so that crowd can elevate their kids by scoffing at the real college soccer players. If you want your kid to play a sport in college suggest that they try Rugby. The whole scene is a heck of a lot more fun than soccer without all of the false pretense.

        Let the usual fireworks begin in 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1

Or, just made up of some really good players who still love the game, want to keep playing and stay involved with it for the rest of their lives. They know they aren't D1 quality, but also know that very few are. So, they keep playing because they love the camaraderie, they love being part of a team and dedicating themselves toward a greater good.

They also realize that as you enter the working world, many hiring agents look for well-rounded applicants who do more than just study. They want to know that the applicant can work, and succeed, in a team environment.

Just couldn't resist, could you, BTNT? Or was this yet another shadow? Great job of not letting any rage leak out, LOL. Now you can admit to starting the thread too just so you could repeat the same tantrum again for the 1000th time.

What sort of information are you seeking from T-S posters?

                    What year is your daughter?

My daughter went D3, and it has worked out well for her.

We started the process early in 10th grade. We identified schools which might be of interest. As we got more data points (academic and soccer inputs) we narrowed the list. She started writing to coaches spring of sophomore year. We did some unofficial school visits over the summer. Further narrowing of the list after visits and more data points into junior year. More unofficial visits during junior year. Some feedback from coaches spring junior year. Summer visits to further narrow the list and speak with coaches to get a feel of where they stand. Official visits in fall of senior yer (one D1 visit and several D3).

This sounds well informed and reasonable. Do you mind sharing whether your daughter was ECNL or whether this process works for kids who aren't quite ECNL caliber?

The amusing part is it doesn't even take that long or that much work to do a "normal" college search and you have to know that all these machinations are simply because that is what the D1 crowd has to do to chase a scholarship. These parents think that they are influencing the admissions process with all of process but with D3 either the grades are good enough to get your kid into the school or they are not, the soccer has virtually no impact with admissions what so ever. All your child really has to do is figure out which school they want to attend and then after they have narrowed things down to their short list, approach the soccer coach about trying out in the fall. If the coach says no, that should be it because your kid is really making their choice based upon the quality of the education. That's IF all of this is really about the quality of the education. The truth is though you have face savers like the prior poster who want to turn a mole hill into a mountain by turning a normal college search into a D1 scholarship chase. All you can do is just laugh at them.

It is. And your kid should be doing most of it, not you.
