7 teams/general X 2 genders =
14 teams per state x 50 states =
700 teams X 16 players/team = 11,200 players
Even if it were half of that, businesses and hotels in CO will still see a very nice revenue bump that weekend

Sorry for the confusion (given all the different leagues and "State Cups it isn't to keep track of it all) but this shows there are regional playoffs? But teams are going straight through?

NEP teams decided to ditch regionals this year, they did it last year. Most other regions still have regionals, so there will not be a million teams in Colorado.

I wonder how many teams will really go? I have to believe there are plenty on any team that don't want to and/or can't afford it. And many of the teams are getting entirely changed up because of the age change and mentally players are moving up.

Who cares if some states have a lesser challenge to get to the National Cup than others? That has always been true of state cup regional and national tournaments (whoever is sponsoring them)? The early round matches will have some lopsided results, and in the end, the best teams are the most likely to prevail. And if heavy underdog teams want to pay to attend, what difference does it make?
