HC will need to step up its schedule if they want to compete with the likes of Northeastern, UMASS, PC etc as one of the region's better teams. A winning schedule for one season is a good first step, but to continue to pummel teams like Albany and Siena is not going to help build the program into one of repute.

Bryant lost a close one to HC yesterday 2-1 but could have gone either way

Beat up on non conference weak teams. Got smoked by Patriot league teams and didn't make the playoffs. Expect the same results for the next couple of yrs.

The schedule isn't the answer. Recruiting is. Or a new coach.

HC is one of the under funded D1 programs and now because of what is happening in other conference they have ended up trying to compete against fully funded top 100 programs like BU. It is a mismatch. Even PC is putting more resources into soccer than HC is. The concept of an academically focused Patriot League sounded good 20 years ago when it was launched but now that whole dream has gone out the window with more conference schools funding increasingly more scholarships each passing year. At this point HC is just coming off as cheap and with their heads in the sand while the world around them is chasing a sports business model. They need to figure out is they want to pony up and play the game the way it is being played or get out of D1 altogether. Until they do that recruiting or a new coach won't make any difference.

Patriot League? Who cares? BU is the best of the bunch and....yawn.

HC is smart. What exactly does a competitive women's soccer program get them? Nada.

Any student that has the opportunity to go to HC is fortunate, as it is a top regional and nationally recognized school. If that fortunate student even receives 1$ in athletic scholarship, all the better. PC may be putting more resources into soccer, but they can only dream of matching HC's reputation academically.

Here comes the D3 crowd again, projecting their value structure onto the rest of the world. The HC education wasn't being criticized, their athletic philosophy was. Time for that group to realize that D1 athletics are about way more than just the education, even at a place like HC. Some of you might want to read this article http://www.ncsasports.org/blog/2015/...ge-their-time/ about the time commitment typically found in at the D1 level. With it as a context, when schools like HC half ass their athletic programs like they do they are dishonoring the kids who are in them busting their butts. That is shameful. The old adage applies .. "piss or get off the pot". Either play the game the way the rest of the level is doing it or get out of the game altogether.

does this only apply to Holy Cross, where the women's soccer team has an RPI of 128? What does your post say about the 134 other teams with lower RPIs?

sorry your child was not accepted to HC. I'm sure you are finding the athletics at Bridgewater to be up to par. Good luck to you.

this was a scrimmage. Before you get too excited and think that URI could beat PC in a real game, keep in mind that the purpose of spring games is to get red shirt players a chance to get on the field and also to play your bench players.

BTDT, why would we need to read the article when we can just refer to your 5000+ posts on the topic?

Let's look at some other really horrible D1 programs with lower RPIs than Holy Cross:

                                Syracuse (133)
                                UNH (164)
                                Villanova (183)
                                Sacred Heart (236)
                                Quinnipiac (313)
                                UVM (289)

These schools must be really short changing their student athletes.
