Not only is US Soccer a sh**show right now (lots of defections, chaos, articles about a toxic environment) but as said above they are exceedingly stubborn. They did the calendar year change despite everyone telling them it was a bad idea. All they care about is the nations top 1%, not the rest of US players.

That requires leadership. They voted in a former investment banker with no soccer experience. None of this is surprising. Without wholesale changes at the top it's not going to get better.

Well in that case that college coach is just as dumb as you are.

Of course college coaches have figured out how to deal with it; they have to in order to do their jobs. But that doesn't mean they like it. For the most part they recruit by grade. They have x spots each year, y position needs, and z dollars. Recruiting by grade just simplifies things. It also makes it easier to compare apples to apples. Is a younger player on a mostly older team weaker because of the age/less experience or they're just not as strong?

You are dumb. They don't go and window shop. Players and club coaches reach out to the college coaches. The players have player profiles through any number of services that are searchable and sort-able by graduation year.

The window shopping happens at their own ID camps and they certainly have the graduation years and yet those camps are always a mix of kids over 3-4 graduation years and yet SOMEHOW they figure it out.

The player and or club coach sends the college coach the game schedule information and the rest is just done.

The college coaches know who and when they are going to watch.
