It is not US Soccer.
The Timbers are picking up the tab this year. Next year that subsidy will go away. DA will be with Westside and players will go back to paying for travel just like the other
Westside teams
The only true club National/Regional level DA program in Oregon rests with the MLS & NWSL Timbers/Thorns, you already knew this and you know 'they' cover the costs of the talented kids they select.
It's refreshing to read your posts, you play stupid very well.

At least the FC P & XF clubs try to escape this brand (US Club) and wear a DA patch for a few years hoping it can wipe the taste you describe.

You have the correct answer which is the Portland Timbers/Thorns. "They" are going to transfer the Thorns to Westside Timbers. Now it is going to be Westside Timbers/Thorns. This now becomes back to your local neighborhood club and the cost model will be similar to other Westside teams. Timbers Academy will stay with Portland Timbers because it is mandated by the MLS to have an academy.

"US Soccer can mandate all they want, but the only real leverage that they have with players is there position to invite kids to national camp."
...then why were US Soccer scouts/coaches seen at the recent ECNL showcase in Houston? Clearly they are looking for talent outside of the GDA as well. Just as colleges will scout GDA games, US Soccer will scout ECNL. No one has the exclusive for either.

Thanks for posting this on the forum full of so much misinformation.
That's awesome.

Same reason US Soccer Scouts were seen at USYS Far West Regional league games in Seattle. Same Scouts were seen at USYS Regionals & Nationals. Many have been spotted at USYS National league games.
They can go to whatever events they want. They are only guaranteed to be at DA events.
Hope that makes sense.

Didn't say only DA kids will go to camp. The DA players will definitely have an advantage and that is some leverage for playing DA.
You should read some of the press releases from US Soccer as it applies to youth national events. They are bragging about the percentage of kids coming from DA clubs. Of course if you are a stud, you will get called in camp regardless of where you play.
It is an even playing field for college recruiting since it is not run by US Soccer.

Evidently if you pay money to join us soccer league you have a better chance of making a national team?
What in the hell?
No wonder soccer is failing in this country.

Us soccer scouts are old bags from your local area who don't even know what they are doing anymore.

Hopefully they get their act together. I think the World Cup debacle really took the air out of the federation and hopefully they can bounce back.
