That's what happens when you haven't had even 1 college commit or pro player developed in all that time. Word is that they'll be playing in PYSA rec league next year.

NWSL Thorns cover around $300k annually for their kids and families . After the $300k subsidy is spent then parents pick up the balance.
It's unfortunate that the local clubs aren't willing subsidize these expensive travel program like the Thorns.

why
Why is this even a topic, the Thorns GDA is gone. ENCL is the most expensive thing in the NW by default now

Also, do you know who pays for non profit clubs? The members and sponsors. Do you think they should cover the cost of ECNL? I doubt you will find any clubs willing or able to do that on Oregon.

"Local club parents cover entire tab at FC pdx & thusc/cu." Where do you get this information. ECNL families for both FC and CU cover their own expenses. FC and THUSC families do not cover ECNL fees. There are some shared coaches so shared coach expenses. You totally contradict yourself with your statement. It seems you don't seem to think that locall clubs should cover ECNL expenses but your next statement says local clubs should be will to subsidize the expenses. So which is it??
And in case you haven't heard GDA Thorns is not longer a thing!!!!

CU/THUSC (really--do you guys have to trade on the name of a Seattle youth club you aren't affiliated with, other than licensing their brand) is terrified that Thorns might get into ECNL. They desperately want the NWSL academy to be relegated to either the state (non-travel) league or to the other league that's forming in the wake of the GDA collapse. The last thing they want is to compete on equal terms, especially that the silly "no high school" rule is no longer in play.
And given the coaching turnover at THUSC/CU, with one coach forming her own rival club and another leaving for a college gig, the only real hope for THUSC/CU to remain relevant in a revived ECNL (with all the good clubs back) is to recruit like hell and have a local monopoly on the platform. They, and their coaching staff, want to be the sole arbiters of who is worthy of travel soccer, and who is not.
Sad!
