      You sure?

Unless he stabbed a kitten or was caught playing Judge Moore at the mall, he'll have his choice of gigs.

Could he be the next US coach? I'm not sure this is the best time to hire one, given that Gulati is up for reelection and that post should be filled first. Otoh if they want an MLS guy, better to do it now before the season starts.

He failed to even qualify the u23 team for the Olympics and now is a candidate for the full nat team job. Interesting pedigree for the full nat team job. The most successful collegiate and MLS coach in history (Bruce Arena) just got canned.

The MLS is a revolving door of coaching re-treads, why? the league is structured as a single entity, you never really get fired from a team per say, the MLS headquarters just reassign you to another parity ridden squad in another city. If that’s what you mean by having his choice of gigs. Being transfered, how appealing can that be?

Nobody wins in the MLS by design or ever ascends to great things abroad. The only competitive advantage in player selection is given to major markets with the big name DP’s of accelerated age. Not exactly the template for an ambitious coach to make their mark and move forward. Porter earned 68 wins out of 170 matches....

Perhaps back to college? Who knows

The MLS will never be a platform for American coaches to hone their craft or make their mark then move onto the world stage.

If, Porter is going to go after a job abroad maybe he can be the first to make it...applaud him if that’s his ambition.

Maybe like all of us he finally had enough of the idiots MP and GW. If that’s the case Caleb Porter you are a God.

Inside source says that this was Porters decision. He has no immediate job to replace this one. He was tired of working for Gavin.

Gavin is terrible and thinks he’s God.

Merritt loves GW because he’s helped build a $3.5 million investment into $130 million. Forget that they are failing in their youth academy and/or local youth soccer

Of course it's his decision, the Timbers still run a business if (timbers) fired him they would be on the hook for the balance of his hefty 2016 long term contract. Now that it's spun as Porter's 'decision' MP keeps his money and just loses the coach.

Resigning, firing, retiring or quitting--really doesn't matter--the fact is he is gone.

Time to move forward in Portland, as if that's possible.

Oregon soccer is one of the worst in the country and it's down to people like GW. Selfish individuals run soccer in this state and it shows. Porter was a great coach but had a pool of sh** players to pick from. Majority of the crap was brought in by GW. Porter had injuries this year. He could not pick from T2 because they are so bad. But, one of GW's minnows runs that team and he couldn't develop anybody but he fits the profile of a typical OR coach. ME ME ME ME!!
