What the heck does "this level of the pyramid" really mean? Girls playing soccer at a top 10 New England school are pretty close to the top. Check out the bios. They are girls from top teams at top clubs.
Oh here it starts. Please don't go down this path again because it has been discussed ad nausea here. This is a soccer site. In this setting no on actually cares one bit about the academic reputations except the parents with an inferiority complex about where their kids are playing soccer. If you want to discuss DIII soccer, keep it real. DIII soccer is the bottom tier of college sports. That's a fact. It's a level where sports are specifically not a priority unless you want to discuss the small handful of schools like Messiah that put a disproportionate emphasis on them so they can essentially brag about beating up on the sisters of the poor. In general the soccer in the top DIII programs is OK but it's nowhere near what you would find in even a minimally successful DI program. That is also a fact and one born out by the lack of success of the few dominant DII programs that have jumped to DI. Excepting the occasional stud that ends up down there, the level is characterized by athletes that are missing the "IT" that would have drawn them DI scholarship interest so the level of competition, while spirited, is markedly lower. To put the level into perspective, in other threads on this site people are criticizing the quality of play in all but the very top of DI college soccer and bemoaning how unimaginative and technically sparse it is. If that is the case, it is important to recognize that those D1 programs have longer pre-seasons as well as a spring season so are putting much more work into perfecting their style of play than a DIII team will. The work differential alone is going to result in a lower quality. Cheer the programs on if that is where you child plays soccer but please stay objective about what it is you are cheering for and leave the academic rankings discussion for the websites where that is the focus.

It's pretty obvious why you focused on the regional poll. As is the case with D1, the soccer in New England appears to be getting weaker relative to other parts of the country. That begs the question that given all of the time and money that families are throwing into club soccer in this region why are our schools so under represented in the national polls. Isn't it time to look objectively at how little player development is actually being done by our local clubs?

3 in the top 25. What's wrong with that?

You realize that Williams won Division 3 championship in 2015 and made the final in 2014. You also realize that many of these schools get students from across the country so it's a pretty bad correlation to yo the regions soccer strength

Since when was New England a bastion of college soccer? Can you really get weaker if you were never strong to begin with?

So true. Southern and Western states eat our lunch on the national stage. That's a valid issue. Getting into a pissinng contest about D1 vs D3 is pointless. As long as kids are playing at their top choice schools who cares? No one is going pro or to the NT. The rest is just noise from D1 dbags who can't stop living through their kids. They'll continue to bore people at cocktail parties with their kids' questionable accomplishments for the next 2 decades.

Interesting since the cocktail party crowd is much more likely to consist of NESAC parents.

Only surpassed by the noise emanating from the D3 fuktards who have nothing but their kid's gpa to talk about and the gaping hole in their wallet after club soccer and college tuitions.

The way both the D1 and D3 parents carry on on this site you would think just the opposite. Winning a national title is a great accomplishment that should be applauded but it is rather humorous that this regional has actually produced a significant number D2 national champions and has several teams from the region in the top 25 yet you never hear a peep about that level.

                      Thanks for playing.

I hadn't posted anything in this thread prior to that.

You could've just left it alone after the first line. It was funny. No reason to be a tool about it after.

I think this sums up the perspective of TS soccer parents. Why focus on GPA when you can brag about Mia's 10 min/game at a low level D1 school on a partial scholarship?

It's the money that partial represents that is the win, the rest is just what you suggest, bragging rights.

Cocktail parties are so 1970's.... unless you are a political donor, so, yes the NESAC correlation is correct.

Is a free education at a crappy D1 college and playing worth the trade-off for a expensive education at a good D3 college and playing?

                                I'm asking for a friend.
