All him. Would have been a lot cheaper for me. He said HS soccer sucked. He would have played for a top school also.

First off there are some good players on da teams in the area. 5 to 6 max per team. Then you have these soft 2 teir da player who fill-in the roster. These roll players are the one's who say HS sucks, they don't have the balls to step up and play HS. You see this even at prep schools were these kids hide on DA teams , even when the prep school has an excellent soccer team. It's pretty sad because they know they're no better than the average HS player.

So instead he plays for a crappy academy team. Because if he is at one of the 2 free locals (Revs or Seacoast) then you are getting just what you pay for. Coaching is basically non-existent and they might as well be renamed Skill Cemeteries because they are where natural ability goes to die.

And it's so 'cool' that is was 'all him'. Does he let you in on any other life changing household decisions or simply tell you to keep your cliché addled ***** in your room?

For this kid who seemingly didn't want to play HS soccer there are two possible explanations. He's either lying to you or he doesn't have any friends on the team.

We should all just be glad that our sons don't have to play against him.

Needham not on your list? South Sectional finals last year....Although they did get squashed by Braintree last year.....
I don't know if they are able to replace league all star goalie but many of the rest are returning.

Keep telling yourself this if it makes you feel better.

Your misguided angst is unbecoming. Soccer is hardly life changing. He was offered a varsity starting spot on a strong D1 high school team as a freshman. Thing are working out nicely for him.

Lots of dads here struggling to defend high school soccer.

The sooner you get back to reliving your glory days through your son the better off we'll all be.

The argument to play high school ball is a good one, but not necessarily to become a great soccer player. It is great to play for your town in front of your family and friends, the latter of which rarely will show up to a club game.
High school sports is like joining a club and the gain is mostly social.
The exception is when your high school is a good team and the coach is a real coach.

That said, high school soccer is not great soccer. It is a fast pace forward moving seemingly chaotic game played by decent athletes and mediocre soccer players. The 'sweeper-back' remains and the kick and run game predominates.

Club soccer is a far better game of soccer and coaching is superior. However, it is less likely to provide long-lasting friends the way high school does. Playing high school ball mainly satisfies the social and community needs in kids.

......and for 2-3 months out of the year it doesn't hurt any future ambitions

High school soccer is full of testosterone overloaded boys that default to dirty play when they get embarrassed. I can get past the kick and run. I just don't want some high school basketball player damaging my soccer player's knee because my kid megged him.
