All the whole coaches saying no other sports, December is “dead month”, etc. What is supposed to be the point of this December time off anyways?
So, what is your point? Are you against 12 year old boys being active and doing what kids do, or not? Because honestly....who cares? I am not even sure why this topic is being discussed. Either your child is doing something or not....again, who cares? Raise your child the way you want and silently disagree with how others raise theirs. Who cares.

Could care less what your Johnny does. Just wondering what is the point of DA saying not to do other sports and take time off in December, but then turn a blind eye to all the kids breaking the rules? What is the point of it all?

DA clubs have bent the rules and USSF has overlooked it for years. It won't change. USSF only cares about a few 100 players. The rest might as be orange cones on the practice field. Clubs need to retain talent, and at pay-to-pay clubs, retain check writing parents.

Multi sport athletes have less injuries. It’s a fact.

They say that if the sports do not run at the same time.. that leads to overuse injuries because there is no recovery time.

Basketball runs through all of January and most of February. So sounds like kids will do Soccer practice in addition to basketball practices and games during those months.

Which is fine, but here's the thing: kids with serious potential, in a challenging environment, who are learning rapidly and can see where they're headed if they do well, will never add another sport willingly.

"Burn out" is a myth. Kids don't burn out on fun environments where progress is happening.

Who at TA is elite? And kids can play multiple sports at the same time and be elite at both at this age if they are athletic and have the drive. Kids with physical limitations are the ones who have their bodies breakdown from over use...

                    Partially incorrect.
All athletes that do too much are at risk of injury, especially those that only play one sport. Multi sport athletes over time see less injuries.

Kids that practice soccer 3x/wk with a game or two on the weekends have fewer injuries, less burn out & better grades than those that do the same soccer but add 5x or 6x/wk of basketball practice & games on top of the soccer.

Once again- not the ones with the physiological abilities to train at much greater intensity and frequency and that take the time to take care of themselves. Some bodies just break down because of a lack of symmetry in their muscle and/or skeletal structure regardless of the amount of use.

Add to it that many kids don't learn how to use their bodies properly from a young age, and clubs spend zero time on strength and conditioning

It’s a slippery slope in the younger ages. Most sports physiologists will advise against strength training until after puberty.

Eastside announced to its parents last week that it will leave the DA program *after* the Spring season. Not because of performance, we were told (we harbor no illusions as to the strength of our teams), but because they believe they can better serve the kids and the club as a whole in the OYSA and RTC/ODP route, and that the DA rules/restrictions were too confining.

They indicated that they believe Eastside will not be the only ones leaving the DA. I assume, as I've read in this thread and/or others I follow, that this is a Timbers Alliance thing. Wouldn't surprise me to see Westside withdraw. Others have already said they will. Will powerhouse WashT as well?
