Why in the world would you think that college is important to a professional profit motivated corporation like the Timbers? Profit driven companies are in business to make money.

Not yet but watch the 'Queens of the West' start to assert a dominance like you mother wouldn't believe. Believe in the Crest. Its here now and upon us in the most sufficient and indignant manner.

Thorns DA is new this year for Girls. They held their very first tryouts two weeks ago. I don't know any organization that have put anyone into college within two weeks of their very first tryout of the organization.

I am curious as to what age group you're referring to. And what does it say if those starters aren't very good, but still make the roster? I mean if they have a superior product than ecnl, then those girls should have been cut. Right?

They have done very poorly over the past couple years. But that is what it is and there is no reason to keep bringing it up.

No different than last 3 years of Thornz Asylum. No kids to college.

Have heard the brand new GDA is off to a good start with training at Providence Park?

When do games begin for this new league?

What exactly does "off to a good start" mean? That they actually had a practice? Woohoo!!!

It has been pretty bleak. They are trotting out C list celebrities trying to drum up some interest.

Will you stop with this? Thorns is the path to professional soccer not college. While your kids are screwing around at sunny college campuses drinking beer out of a plastic solo cup and having fun, the real soccer players will be on pro teams and getting real world work experience as a cashier at Walgreens and the 76 station. Real world experience will get you to asst manager way faster than college.

Pretty funny you actually believe that. How many professional soccer teams in the league, in the US? How many internationally? It's not that many. Now, How many TENS ( or maybe HUNDREDS) of thousands of female players in the US (and world, for that matter), that are competing for those limited spots?

You think for a moment pro teams will concentrate or focus on GDA players to fill the ranks of pro players? Really?? No, they'll fill them with the best, no matter where they come from, be it colleges and other countries.

Keep focusing on the small pie in the sky ("path to professional soccer") while others focus on going to college (which there are many more of than pro teams). In that process, they may have part or all of their education paid for, so with degree in hand, they can go on and be any type of professional they want to be. If they're that good, they may even become a professional soccer player after all.

If your DD had made the team you would have been privy to the many parent and player meetings that emphasize college placement. You are delusional if you think the Timbers organization does not have top contacts for college recruitment. Are you asserting that FC Portland and Crossfire are better assisting in the placement of more boys in college than Timbers DA? I don't think so chucklehead. Girls will be getting same benefits in DA as the boys when it comes to college placement assistance. Only time will tell what other clubs will be able to offer such a comprehensive package for high school age youth. ECNL does not come close. That's just a league.. it's not a comprehensive program.

I would think a lot more Thorns players would have committed to schools other than just 2 over the last 3 years and those 2 committed before Thorns was a thing

This is the DA program's inaugural year for female athletes.
