The rankings for the PNW are largely meaningless since most teams have not started their regular season. Just by virtue of having a name that starts with a C helps Crossfire become an automatic qualifier to the champions league since it is sorted in alphabetical order.

The league standings are the main way a team is placed in the various standings. The top 2 in a league are automatically placed in the champions league. Boise has played some games so they made it in, Crossfire Premier is next alphabetically in the U17 age bracket.

yes but I think that poster was listing the rankings of the teams the pnw teams played against and their results. other divisions have seasons that start earlier and have played a significant number of games

Yes, but Seattle United did not send their U16 or U17 teams -- or they weren't invited? I'm curious to know what happened. SU U17s coached by TR, former women's coach at Notre Dame, and U16s by DP, who seems well respected locally.

Wrong, ECNL is U18/19 for both.

Ecnl website says u17 team then u18/19 and u18/19 composite. There is no u18 team. Same with gda - u17 and u18/19 team. No u18. Thanks to birth year mess.

Correct. There is no u18 in ecnl not in gda. Have to be combined due to birth year.

I feel like SU has not been participating in many of the bigger tournaments. No idea why.

Seattle United U17s played in the Florida ECNL tournament last year...hmm

But what is the difference? what is the "composite"

ECNL showcases are not "invited" events. Each U16 + U17 ECNL team is required to attend 3 showcases. Each club gives ECNL their order of preferences, and ECNL draws the events each team will be required to attend. (U19 teams play 1 showcase and two of the options are in the fall, so most PNW teams go to Florida.) Seattle United's 16s/17s teams will go to Houston, Phoenix and New Jersey, while EFC, WPFC and Pac will not go to Jersey. (Jersey is a great event for looks from colleges from the NE, obviously.) WPFC 17s went to South Carolina, not Florida or Jersey. etc etc.

ECNL ultimately decides where each team plays their showcases, nothing more interesting than that.

You can see the team lists here for each national event: https://www.eliteclubsnationalleague...-events-19-20/

Also, games are not apple-to-apples. You really have to look at who each team had to play to really pass any judgement and that's always tough this early in the season unless the opponent had games this fall such as Midwest, Florida, Mid-Atlantic, Texas clubs.

Someone is not impressed with the football being played at the ECNL tournament:
