No idea in this case but coaches leave for the same reasons people leave their jobs
- bigger opportunities - bigger program, more competitive conference etc
- better fit (maybe old AD or school isn't supportive for the program)
- personal/family reasons (genuine, not corporate speak)
- sensed or were told they're out, but then most often they don't land a better spot

Albany as a state school is almost certainly going to pay more and gives them a lot more latitude with scholarships. They'll have to put in more than 2 years at this stop but if they can keep Albany at the top of conference that could provide a spring board to the next level in a few years.

Presumably they conduct a search, bring in multiple candidates etc. Likely to take at least 30 days if not more.
It's not like they are hiring a cashier.
Probably looking at an assistant at larger program getting their first crack at an HC gig. Good opportunity for the right person especially since they've had decent seasons over the past two years.
