After the top handful of automatic girls programs like NCs, Dukes, UCLAs, etc it’s all about your ability to recruit and sell the school. UConn and Miami are both great schools, but so are 100 others. The difference is getting a coach who can recruit. Personality matters a lot. Especially in today’s environment where kids are so coddled. All NCAA sports is all about recruiting. Some can do it and some just can’t.

Good point. Also, Miami is a good school but can't compete with some of the other ACC schools like Duke, ND or UVA for academic reputation, or many ACC teams for soccer quality. If you've got the grades and skills, Miami won't be your top pick.

(anyone can sit through the classes and get any license imaginable).

So says all these “expert” parents. You talk like you know something about college soccer. It’s the same language I hear from parents at club soccer games. No wonder I see more and more college coaches standing in the parents side of the field observing these expert parents. You have a GWU Coach that turned that program around both with their quality of play And the quality of athletes that were drawn to her program. Talk to the payers/parents there and hear what they have to say about her. They were all sad when she left to take on a a new challenge in the most competitive league in the country. She is now entering only her second season with only one class she has personally recruited and you have these expert anonymous parents saying she is not a good fit. Unbelievable. Folks, college soccer is not like club where you “pay to play”. Colleges carefully vette the student-athletes as well as their baggage (parents).
