Literally nobody cares about school age cut offs except you. The calendar age grouping are simple especially at younger age groups.

Half the kids are screwed in 8th grade and their senior year. That said, start it at middle school and below. The rest of us already conformed to the bad current system and had teams ripped apart. Doing it again to these kids is a disservice.

        Amen!

Nah. I say rip the bandaid off and get it over with quickly. Grandfathering in certain ages just drags the process out and still have chaos with it. Be done with this bad idea once and for all.

It’s too late for my kids but agree. The sooner they fix it across the board, the fewer kids will get screwed and quit and the sooner the healing can begin. Follow the fastest growing sport of lacrosse’s lead!

Colleges recruit by GRADUATION YEAR, they don’t care what month you were born nor when your state’s school cutoff is. Graduation year is all they care about so it makes perfect sense. Heard ECNL was switching to grad year to corner 90% of the youth soccer market. If USSF changes, it helps everyone and keeps their GDA alive.
Yup, so hard for the College Coach to look on the player profile and see their Graduation year printed. So, so difficult for the college coaches. :/

That's actually a good suggestion. Use calendar Year up to U12, then switch to school age for U13 when transition to big fields. Makes too much sense. Never mind.

Yeah sure, **** the kids, make it about what's easier for the adults. Most of these kids had a team set, and it got ripped apart. Then they made new roots and have a year or two left, doing it to them again is crazy.

As someone who has experienced the trapped 8th grade the change needs to be done ASAP so other kids do not have to deal with it. Those kids also have to find new teams for their senior years anyway.

Exactly! Rip that band aid off. Having a new team is much better than having no team - especially during recruiting high school years.

I've seen too many kids left without teams. If they're going to do it, do it right away. No grandfathering or graduated rollout. The sooner kids can transition on to new teams and not have to worry about this any longer, the better.

yep, can you image all the unclaimed full rides each season because the recruiters thought someone was graduating and it turned out they were just a junior!

A team for everyone and a team for every grade! A simple money and market share making proposition. Never mind, makes too much sense. They’ll never go for it.
