And, it's an "advantage" not "possession". There's no time limit when you have to let everyone know. You see a foul, take a moment to see if it's advantageous to let it go or call it, and then just make the verbal instruction.
sounds like you are a "perfect" ref!!!!

      "Play possession" - lol
"sometimes the action is happening quickly and sometimes we don't all ways have time" - lololol

Sounds like, and I sincerely hope, that you are not a ref.

        No, just not an excuse-maker.

Everyone makes mistakes. But "I have no time" is an excuse of the weak and unwilling.

See they play, make the call, be firm, and move on. Be prepared to answer to it if you have to (an explanation to a coach or captain goes a long way in a quiet time).

But, "not enough time"? Go back to umpiring....

Welp, I can see we've moved along from the referee discussion so I'm out.

                    Enjoy.

Short answer to the OP’s question is no. They referee the wrong things and only give out cards and warning when things are said on sideline.

a guy got tossed from a HS game last week as his kid was getting fouled the hole time and refs just ignored fouls. He said one thing and had to leave

Refs do not do a good enough jobs at protecting kids from bad fouls. They like to ‘let them play’ 🙄

Hate those refs. Act like they are doing everyone a favor as a kid gets wiped out for the 6th time.
