Overall, if you can make one of these tournaments you won’t regret it. Great experience.
SL is much, much cheaper. Surf Cup requires you to rent hotels through their service. The stay n play requirement cost us $3,000 in additional hotel costs vs using a booking online service.

Last time we had 30 coaches at each game.
The Oregon teams aren’t in the top Surf bracket. They are with a bunch of lower tier teams in Black or White or Blue. ***c 02, Gps 03 and the other good Oregon teams should easily win at least their black brackets. They are mostly playing against much much lower ranked teams from Region 4. At least they will rack up the wins. Silverlakes will be much tougher competition so wins will be hard to come by. Showcase games are about showcasing so maybe better to have team loses but showcase well individually against top competition. College coaches aren’t too impressed if you do well against cupcake competition.

A checkbook is all you need to be accepted these days.

One of the most uninformed posts of the day.

Someone tell armchair idiot to learn a little bit before spouting off.

Who lied to you? Sorry your team didn’t get in.

No, your team did not. Hence your ongoing complaining and lies about everything Oregon soccer related. Go away.

The dumb jealousy (it seems) that exists among people is comical. Go to San Diego and enjoy it. Let your son or daugher have fun, if you want to pay for a trip like this. If not, then stop complaining about competition levels or quality of play. I've witnessed this tourney over the past couple of years, and it's damn good soccer. There are no patsies, that I've seen. Just solid squads, dooking it out in the sunshine.....

Not true but Surf Cup has been sliding down in quality quite a bit over the last few years. This year is particularly weak, that is according to southern CA soccer people. It’s still leagues ahead of most tournaments and the venue is still top notch even if the competition is way watered down compared to years past. Silverlakes has taken the lead in competition but is only an hour away and coaches will go to both. Soccer fun will be had by all.

Last year the first two games had anywhere from 12-15 coaches per game. Large pile of business cards passed out. Overall we had at least 25 contacts. Surf Cup is expensive but hard to beat for exposure if college is your goal.

Getting weaker every year now that GDA isn’t participating much and more & more top teams & ecnl olders are choosing Silverlakes instead. While Silverlakes has the better competition this year, Surf has the better weather and coaches will go to both. Both are much better than anything in Oregon. Good luck to all the Oregon teams competing in both!
