Why are they having this tournament? Schools are closed but little Johnny can play in a soccer tournament with team from all over. Teams coming from South Florida which was the covid epicenter 2-3 weeks ago. Sounds like a great idea! Thanks for spreading the virus to Manatee County. Residents of Manatee County let’s find out who sanctioned this event and let’s vote them out.

I think kids should play friendlies with other local clubs. If there are 100 teams this means that just at a minimum 1000 kids, not counting parents. The tournament should happen but maybe wait till later in the year. We don't learn from our mistakes.Comment

Manatee County loses about $250K/year at Premier. It’s subsidized by tourist dollars — and imagine what that looks like right now. The rest is made up by General Revenue most of which is invariably from Manatee County property taxes. The Commissioners are on record even saying the place was never envisioned to “make money.” The Commissioners thought the great economic impact in the community would offset the losses. And, the Club operating a franchise there is not even from Manatee County. So, their profits (and there are profits when you look at their tax returns on line) go out of County. But, the Commissioners still approved a 5-year lease and wouldn’t allow other Manatee County Clubs in. Why? Not sure, but it doesn’t smell good as real Manatee County dollars (not embellished economic impact dollars) are flowing out of County.

There won't be a tournament. Schools will be shut down after a week (Entire grades are already being quarantined in other states), and the tournament will be cancelled. Counties will shut down facilities. Make sure you have a good home program.Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment
