Having said that - a top team from Oregon went to a top tournament and represented well. Give the girls credit, and all the best!
Yes, but it shows you that NPL doesn't draw the best competition. Fall Surf is a lot more difficult to play in as teams get very few practices as they are coming off of HS while the California teams are all in mid-season form. In Summer Surf, Oregon teams have been playing and practicing for month.

NPL Finals draws from a limited pool of teams - only those that actually play (and won) a US Club National Premier League. There are only 19 NPLs across the nation so, naturally, a lot of very good teams aren't going to be involved.

The US Club National Cup, on the other hand, is open to all teams in the nation and, as such, typically has a higher level of competition. Not always, but usually.

The US Youth Nationals is a closed cup in the sense that teams that play in US Club leagues only don't have a way to qualify for US Youth state cups, so this leaves out many very good teams.

Actually US Youth Nationals is open to all teams. All they have to do is play a set amount of games in USYS and then play in State Cup.

What NPL did Onyx play in to get the right to go to Nationals? Please don't say it was OPL. OPL is anything but premier.

The fact that teams have to play a "set amount of games in USYS and then play in State Cup" defines the US Youth Nationals as a "closed" cup. Not all teams in the nation have access to a USYS league. US Club Nationals simply requires a team to register with US Club and enter one of the Regional qualifying tournaments. It doesn't matter what state or league you play in.

The OPL is one of the 19 NPLs. If you say it's not "premier", then the same must be said for the OYSA Timbers league. Are you willing to agree to that?

As long as there is a split Oregon will never be able to honestly say we have a premier league on the girls side!

Parents on both sides need to constantly push for re-unification!

USYS regionals and championship isn't either. These teams don't play in that either. They play in the ECNL.

Onyx winning the NPL championship is a big tournament and to say otherwise is ridiculous. Onyx also won the NWCL. Who else from Oregon can make that claim?

Not affiliated to Onyx in any way shape or form, but I have to say this is a sad and lame thread starter. Don't know all the facts but based on the other posts I would hardly characterize their results as "got worked".

Clearly you have issues with Onyx. When someone takes so much glee in a group of young athletes losing (despite being very competitive) I think pethaps its time to re-assess your own life. Envy is not good.

Onyx or their personnel, affiliates parents or fans did not elicit, endorse or otherwise finance the content of this post...( just adding a little levity just in case some dont get it).

Winning OYSA doesn't get you into anything, however. You have to win state cup and then go to Regionals. In Regionals, you have to get out of your bracket and then win three more games to qualify to go to Nationals. Seems like it's a lot more difficult of a path to go down.

And to say not all teams have access to OYSA, that's false. It's not closed. There may not be a local venue to allow you to play games, but that doesn't mean it's closed. You can travel if needed. To say it's closed is to say that they don't allow certain teams to play That's not true.

Yeah yeah, blah blah blah. If Onyx wins, it's the biggest thing in the world. If they lose, there are all sorts of explanations and arm waving. Onyx parents, you get bashed when you lose because you do so much bragging when you win. Sit down, shut up and act humble and people won't give you crap. And you can give other teams credit when they win rather than trying to say that your wins are so much better than anyone else's.

You are sick. You need to step back and think about how you attack this young group of athletes.

Sorry Onyx dad that you didn't read and understand the post. Apparently they are not only the worst parents, but the dumbest too.

Personally I don't wish any ill will toward the girls on that team. Their parents, on the other hand,.... Not all mind you, but some of them.

not many....Oregon is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too weak to even talk about those claims...you have to go to states like Washington or California to talk like that....

Onyx is a great team...they are one of about 5-7 teams in the last 20 years that are your average Washington Team.

While Oregon has the talent to create an Onyx every 5-7 years Washington creates them yearly.

Hint: When you are about to type a slam and it's targeted at women and demeans them hit the delete key and try again.

And no I'm not the THUSC mom but a dad who objects to your treatment of women and our DD's.
