If you are going to be a U16 what to do?

Now that the tryouts are over and the ECNL & Academy invites have been sent what is a better upcoming U16 to do? Stay with your OPL team? Stay with your OYSA team?

    Incoming U16

It would be nice, though seemingly highly unlikely that the opl/oysa split will work itself out, as 2 leagues are unsustainable. This age group gets quite a bit of upheaval with the addition of ecnl/academy, Crossfire especially, after doing the whole 'throw 5 clubs in the blender to make 4 all-new teams' routine last year, that was very poorly managed - and those teams are barely hanging together -or not, in some cases. Not sure that the announced coaching assignments will be enough to draw anyone new in. 3 teams might be optimistic. FC will need an influx to make their 'reserves' team viable. THUSC still will have 2 teams at the age group- they have pretty big rosters, so not sure how many openings there would be. Westside only had one team, and they lost a few to the Academy. Not sure how many Eastside players went, but at last check, they had 2 teams. pcu has 3 teams, but they are now playing Select-level tournaments. Bridlemile probably about in the same boat. There's always Vancouver! It will be interesting, for sure. Hope that it all works out for everyone!

Nemesis 98s lost their best players to the Academy. WashT 98 Reds have never been a premier division team. Not much hope in Vancouver I'm afraid.

I love it that whenever possible, some Vancouver bashing occurs. So funny.

          I don't think it's bashing

Just stating facts, not making digs. Different clubs have teams at different levels, and that is just fine. Not everyone is going to the Academy or ECNL, but still wants an opportunity to play at a level that is appropriate and that works with their family budget/travel schedule, etc. Many girls this year will drop out of club soccer altogether, and focus on other sports, or just play high school, or whatever. That's fine as well. Here's hoping that everyone finds the right place!

Westside had 2 teams at this 98 age group last season. Numbers are looking very strong for this year based upon how many players from other clubs that didn't go to ECNL are looking for a new home. There has been many at our DDs training. 4 great showcases, FWR League (with Eastside FC and PacNW) and hopefully another Far West Regional opportunity makes for a fun season. See you guys around. Enjoy whatever team you choose.
