Yeah, how about because sometimes the coach requests you attend their camp so they can see you for a longer period of time than the 15 minutes at a showcase game? In case you haven't figured this out yet, you're either a training cone or a baller. Rosters of 22+ in college, HS, club, etc. 11 on the pitch at any time in a match. Hard to run a good practice session or 11v11 scrimmage with 11 players. Starting to get it yet? Most of the players who sign up for these camps are just training cones for the few that have already been ID'd or are in the process of being ID'd. Why do they do it? Better question is why are so many participating in club soccer and not at ECNL/DA level? It's a pyramid. Those at the bottom hope to make it to the top.

Yes we are suckers for shelling out dineros.
CT poster - no doubt the AC was the infamous MM. His dad owns Yankee United and the son used to coach there. The Brown HC is a former YU player. YU had the dad and son is famous for yelling at players all the time.

As for ID camps they have become a necessary evil in some regards. Coaches want to see their top recruits for longer periods of time, how they square off with current players etc. The tricky part is figuring out if you are a top recruit or a budget filling generic invite. Brown and Yale have little reason not to come and watch local players in league games. If you're coming from further away try and use your club coach to gauge if it's genuine interest before deciding

Looking at the TDS 2021 commitments, it does not seem like too many local girls on Brown's radar, just saying:
Kimberly Cover 2021 D Weston Florida Sunrise Prime
Gianna De Priest 2021 MF Long Beach California Beach FC (CA)
Mmasiolu Gamero 2021 F Cerritos California Beach FC (CA)
Karlie Schlosser 2021 D Cooper City Florida Sunrise Prime
