The fact is that the FCIAC cannibalizes itself in the early rounds. If well spread out, there could be 3-4 teams that could make runs

Wouldn’t be shocked if Darien or Wilton made semis either. Newington and Glastonbury are no juggernauts. A lot of good competitive games to be played. Should be fun!

Relax Freshman Dad. Kids have to get out of school early and then travel an hour plus to someone’s home field. If that team scores first your season is over. That’s girls soccer. Goals go in, heads go down. No one cares who you played!

Not only that, they get to freeze their butts off on the bus ride home.
20 degree temps predicted with an added wind chill.
They should change the games to tonight

New Canaan has one of the easiest draws to the semis in the tournament.
Obviously New Canaan does play some tough competition at the top of the conference but the bottom half leaves a lot to be desired. Don't get me wrong I definitely think New Canaan can make it by Cheshire or Southington too but both of them don't allow a lot of goals. So may not be as easy as we all think.

2 ways to look at it

they don't give up a lot of goals because they are dominant and the other team doesn't have the ball a lot
                        or
there are no big time offenses in conference and goals are hard to come by for everyone

NC has a lot of offense, but if they don't have the ball they are very beatable-(ie staples)
are Cheshire or Southington the same as Staples ? we shall see

NC is mid-tier in FCIAC. They can't beat any of the big 3 top teams. They tied Ridgefield but that game was weather-impacted. So it will be interesting to see where they stack up against non-FCIAC teams. Today won't be hard, but Cheshire will give them a fight.

Lots of late afternoon games today. Will be cold for sure.

                            FF:

                            Southington vs STJ
                            Staples vs Gbury

Gbury over STJ in the finals

Show me where New Canaan has a lot of offense. They've only scored 3 goals once against a team that is in any post season tournament.

that's because they snuck up on everyone last year- some people learn from mistakes

if you let them run on you -you will give up goals
they aren't great soccer players but they are athletes and they are fast up top
