Not happening. The new/current structure is in place for the next several years with minor tweaks to see how the DA Cup and promotion/relegation between Tier 1 and Tier 2 works. Only minor adjustments will happen through at least 2024. The MLS teams still like to play the non-MLS DA clubs, how else do you think they find the players to recruit? The overall level across the system is increasing and while the MLS academies teams are typically at or near the top of most tables, the scores and games are getting more competitive week in and week out. Besides, shouldn’t the MLS academies be the better teams with better players? If they weren’t, there would be bigger problems to address.

Anyone rooting against DA in favor of girls b-league ECNL for boys is nothing more than pathetic, sad loser. You don't build up a krap league but tearing one down that is better. Guys, this has been talked about for years. The MLS DAs playing each other because they are usually a higher level team. They aren't LEAVING DA, they are putting the DA in tiers.

You are such an idiot. MLS is required to have DAs. They just want to play each other and since they pay for everything (usually) . . . they can afford the extra travel costs. I haven't heard it is finally being implemented but I heard about it a year or two ago.

USL teams?? Right, I’m sure Hartford will be a real power house DA. If one of the main issues is costs for the non-MLS DA clubs and only MLS teams are free to play, what makes you think clubs like Charleston, Loudon, Richmond, Memphis, Pittsburgh would fund a DA program? Over half the USL teams lose money already, good luck with that.

The reason the scores are getting closer is because the whole system is watered down. You cant tell me there is 80 elite full teams of players in the US. **** we can field a 22 man roster at u17. to compete with the rest of the world. MLS clubs are going to recruit from Showcases and Major tournaments to find the talent. at one point they will have to figure out a way to recap some of the expenses. via transfer monies but right now US Soccer is a bust and MLS thinks it is the right time to condense the field.

Smartest thing you said Kids aren't good enough.

Why should US Soccer continue to put effort into a system that is not finding the talent. they do not actually track anything that happens on the field except Goals and clean sheets. The scouting that used to be evident at every game has vanished. Local regional camps no longer exist. No way they can evaluate 10000 kids with no staff. Until All the MLS teams commit to a residential program it will never work. US Soccer has 100s of Millions that they cant figure out where to spend it. The system is a mess.

They go back to scouting players all over plus use USL as their feeder system. They don't need non MLS DA clubs to get all their players and in fact are doing themselves a disservice in limiting themselves to just that
