Best to ask your Son if he sees any hot girls he'd be interested in at the club before he commits.

He's got much better odds with girls at his high school, especially if he's a stud on the team. No one pays attention to club soccer other than parents.

If he is doing it, report him to the club and he will be gone. More playing time for your kid.
Gda players in Oregon for the Portland Thorns were allowed to play public high school and return to their gda teams. Full time players who played in the first gda games back after high school was over. I don’t think the gda rules are the same in every state. It must be up to each individual gda club.

No the rules are exactly the same everywhere. The ability to manipulate the rules Not is driven by when states have HS soccer. Up north it's mostly in the fall, winter here, spring out west. Due to a massive loophole in DA rules, which allows players to be added at any time up until April, players up north can play HS then get added on as soon as HS is finished. As they were never on any official roster there's no conflict. These are not officially waivered private school players (who have to get USSF approval) but public school kids making the most of the loophole. It's all kosher as long as you're not doing both at the same time* - official or unofficial waiver you cannot do both.

Thorns played games, so did NE teams who had vey thin rosters all fall. Clubs can't really push the entire HS off without arousing suspicion, so they push off what they can and move players around for the games they do play. Down here it's easy enough from players to do the showcase then go to HS until DA ramps back up again February. DA isn't technically on hiatus and USSF defines the season as being ten months long. But since there's very few games in the winter USSF would never know if players were missing practices for HS.

*One club NY Fury actually told players the could do both. They got caught, players were suspended and the teams forfeited games.

The GDA rule states that players cannot play hs and gda in the same season so they is no way to play hs (while gda is in season) even if you’re not rostered on gda and then join up with the gda team once hs season is over. GDA wrote the rules like that to eliminate that loop hole for states that play hs soccer in the fall. The other states gda clubs and players won’t be happy to hear other clubs are allowing hs play.

As someone said above, it's a big loophole in the rules but all of it is allowed. Some players here have done it too - with no DA games from the Dec showcase to February you could go play HS with or without your club knowing. It's not covered by the loophole since you're on an official DA roster, but as I said some players did it (it was discussed at length on TS). Just better hope if your club doesn't know they don't find out. If they do know, then both of you better hope USSF doesn't find out. Forfeiting games won't go over really well with your teammates.
