Branford is better but not deep enough. East Haven, West Haven and New Haven schools are a joke.
Pretty simple stuff with Guilford. Best players never stay on field or even get on field. Tactically clueless coach.
Shelton's the team to beat this year

Very few high school coaches have enough talent to leave legitimately good players on the bench.
Maybe your kid plays midfield. Guilford bypasses the midfield, defenders launch it 50 times a game

The criticism that is valid is not being able to identify best players and get them on the field together. They have a lot of bad players that chew up tons of minutes trying to appease them and parents. In the end everyone ends up pissed and frustrated. Happens Year in and year out.

Shelton is favorite. Cheshire too.
Mercy has a ton of quality premiere players, but can never get it done
They put Lyman Hall & Sheehan in same division but not other long time rivals
Why Guilford and Hand don't play in same division is beyond me.
Guilford has some very good players but it's launch and chase.
What idiot crafted these divisions. I love when people that know nothing about the sport or history make decisions like this
The league ensures each of the top teams have to play each other, giving the SCC one of the tougher league schedules. No easy wins over other teams in the bottom of the other divisions. All out of division games are then generally going to fall against teams on par with your own program. Makes for a lot of competitive games on every SCC team's schedule.

A team like Cheshire or Guilford haven't done much in recent years but historically have been pretty good. Perhaps their younger players are able to turn the tide.
Amity is probably the favorite. Good mix of upperclassmen and talented younger players. Mercy returns lots of strong players as well. Shelton, Hand, Guilford and Cheshire also have the potential to make some noise.
Having been around this for a few years with multiple kids, it always seems that a different school comes out on top each year. Past history suggests it's anyone's race...
2018- Shelton
2017- Hand
2016- Cheshire
2015- Shelton
2014 - Guilford
That 2017 conference semifinal between Hand and Shelton was a classic. Won in OT on a Hand header. Hand went on to roll Jonathan Law in the final.
