Correct, this is essentially what is done in other sports, but it really hasn't impacted results as far as those advancing to the playoffs. Most of the time it is still the District winner and runner up moving on.

Montverde is hands down best girls high school team in the state. Too bad they were forced to play in d2 and will not be competing for state championship ship

They were not forced to play D2. They didn't want to class up in size. They chose to be independent for the two-year cycle.

Avoiding the mercy rule is the goal against this team. Don’t know why they are playing gcf, state cup and high school. Has to be better competition for them
