    Poaching

    Rule 401.5: Poaching.

No coach, assistant coach, trainer, team representative, registered player, or PARENT, may offer any kind of inducement to recruit a player and/or to transfer from his/her respective team, during the seasonal year as defined September 1 though August 31.

PARENTs are the biggest violators of Rule 401.5!

I was under the impression that academy coaches can speak to non academy players at any time. Is this not accurate?

This is a joke rule. The dates make no sense at all since tryouts are in late May and early June. I have never seen anyone get punished for poaching so they should just drop the rule completely!

It does not apply to training places like lic'd or non lic'd academy that has no competive team.

I'll bet there are plenty of cases where High School coaches poach the players that attend and participate at their schools to play for the Club team that they also coach.

Inducing a player includes, but is not limited solicitation to leave the current affiliate, offering a currently rostered player a roster spot on an existing team, or a roster spot for the next seasonal year.

Coach, assistant coach, trainer, team representative, registered player, parent or advertisement.

Coaches are responsible for the actions of the all of the above listed participants of their team.

The rule only applies to clubs competing in FYSA sanctioned events. Academy does not compete in FYSA events and therefore the Academy teams are not constrained to this rule.

Some have tried to recruit early (early tryouts) using US Club Soccer; however, they frequently enter those NPL teams in FYSA sanctioned events (such as State Cup) and therefore violate the poaching rule. Poaching is difficult to document and is rarely enforced.

What if FYSA is suspended so that kids in the country of freedom can play freely and practice their amendment rights?

Everybody has the freedom to tryout anywhere they want during tryout season. After you commit to a team, FYSA requires you to fulfill your obligation to that team so that teams remain viable for a full season. Nothing worse than having 5 of 14 players decide to quit a team mid-season.

                            This is a stupid rule.

Players should be able to play anytime anywhere with anyone.
It keeps them engaged, interested, playing with different players, formations and philosophies. Allows them to be exposed to different coaching and tactical views and play with and vs a variety of different players.

If you ran a club that had expenses and a budget how would you meet your budget and allow players to play anytime anywhere as you more than likely would never see much of the registration you charge?
