10 year old for U12 US DA

Is it unusual for a 10 year old to make a U12 US DA academy team or does it happen often?

    #2
You realize U12 DA just started this current season. There is no history or track record for your question.

I would guess that it will not be a rare occurrence now that we are aligning fully to birth year.

Not really? Prob a big child- usually though, early standouts are not as good as everyone by U14/U15, when everyone has caught up in size and surpassed them in skill

depends which club, if your talking about PC, then yep anyone can make it there. They take what they can get, because they can get anyone to come out.

Even at the clubs where it is more of a big deal, you understand they will be carrying 26 2006 kids per u12 DA next year. That's a lot. 26 at Plantation; 26 at Wellington; 26 at Weston, etc. etc/ They are casting a wide net. just b/c your 10 year old is picked, I would not run out and hire an agent.

Weston FC Academy U12 has a 10 year old. Probably best player on the team. He has an older brother that plays one year up for Weston DA as well.

Guess it runs in the family.

Everyone on the U12 DA gets to play at least half the game.

Did they tell you that your 10-yr old will not be allowed to play in any heading game until his 11th birthday? I doubt any U12 DA team ever plays a non-heading league or tournament. Depending on year/month of birth, you could be looking at entire season on the bench.

Absurd. No one is benching a ten year old because he/she can't head a ball in the rare occasion it comes up at that age. Any coach that does is a cra**y coach.
