There's a difference between missing calls and not taking pride in your work. Every week it's fat slobs who refuse to run wearing faded uniforms they aren't even supposed to be wearing anymore. But maybe the not running part is a good thing so the players don't get traumatized when a ref has a heart attack on the field from wanting the money from doing games all day but not wanting to do the work to be in shape.

And forget playing the actual length of the game especially with the mexican refs. You're lucky if they only cut the halves a minute when the rules say they should bbe adding 3-4 for water breaks and injuries.

Plus you get more hours in one shot at Walmart so less gas money.
Well since the thread is about refs and kids....

Maybe if your league paid better you'd get better refs. And I don't know what youth league you're referring to but there are plenty of better paying gigs out there. Even for lower paying gigs I think most would rather be outside doing something enjoyable than stuck under florescent lights making $8.25/hour.

Not sure what league you are in but it is a running clock on water breaks and adding time on is at the discretion of the center ref.

So acting like a fool on the sideline teaches kids how to best deal with adversity? Your kid will never remember who they played that day, or the score, but they'll never forget when daddy got walked to the parking lot because he couldn't keep his mouth shut. Keep justifying your poor behavior. Problem with youth sports is you and all the other clown parents that get tossed.

Yep, the problem with youth soccer is always the parents. It has nothing to do with the refs, or the lack of organization, or the inability for the clubs to get their sh*t together. You nailed it. Always the parents fault.

Wrong. Did fat mexican ref tell you that? Read the FYSA and FIFA rules.

Your beef is with the people who hire them. Have the character to talk with them about it or shut the hell up.

Can things be better from the ref side? Yes or course. But do you think having parents yelling will encourage people to participate, work hard, and stay with it? No it won't. It's circular.

Maybe if more parents got involved themselves or had their kids train to ref they'd see it's not so easy. More mistakes are human error than gross incompetence or misconduct. Even well trained pros don't' always get it right. Last I checked none of your kids are playing in a EUFA Cup final or the Olympics.

Must be a blast to drive home with you after a loss.

...actually that very likely goes for 24/7.

Don't bother with posters like that. Everything will always be someone else's fault. God forbid a human make a mistake. Or, better yet, think about the fact that it's YOUTH soccer. I'm sure his kids' teachers love parent teacher conferences with him as well. Can't help but feel sorry for his kids - not their fault they have that dad.

I'm glad you get it now. The first step is to recognize that 'your that guy'.

Maybe you should become a referee and show everyone how it is done.

To the ref haters on this forum, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the refs probably have a lot more to complain about regarding parents than the other way around. They tolerate a lot, are rarely thanked, get paid squat, and then you expect them to take pride and be a better ref than you are a good example for your child and a good reflection on your club. Get your act together before you start going after others. Your child, your spouse, your club, and your fellow parents will be glad you did.
