And if GDA is raising the tide for all players, then MA isn't magically now going to have more D1 players than before. They'll be competing for spots with the same players they'd compete with if GDA weren't around. This doesn't grow the player pool, it just moves them around.

There are reasons why the men in this country don't play soccer better than they do and the DA is not really the primary cause of it, in fact if it were not for the DA putting the minimal effort that it seems most DA clubs have put in, could you imagine how low the men's team would be ranked? There is little question that this country needs to up its intensity level with regard to producing soccer players. Anyone who thinks that the ECNL was on the right track needs to have their head examined. The GDA is a good first step but its only just that, a first step.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostWho draws better is a petty debate. The facts are that FIFA currently ranks the US Women #1 whereas it ranks the US Men #30. That's all that matters. Ten years ago the Men were ranked #19 while the Women were #2. The difference here is the world clearly is putting more effort into developing soccer players than we are. As noted the DA has not worked for the men but instituting it for the women will still be a dramatic increase in intensity on that side and it may be enough to keep our women from experiencing the slide so many are forecasting in the short term but clearly what we should be taking away from the boys DA is that it is not enough. Attacking the DA is insane because we should all be taking the attitude that while it is woefully inadequate it is still better than nothing.

What if I told you that the U.S. Curling team was ranked #1 in the world. Would you care?

Here's the truth. No one is bashing GDA or insisting that GDA isn't or won't be at the top. Some have said some portion of decent players will make personal decisions to keep high school play viable. That doesn't mean that a true prodigy may not care about high school in the least. Or she may. Perhaps ECNL will morph generally into a place where mid D1 down to high D3 play. Who cares? BTNT will come in with the overkill/cost argument where he feigns caring about you folks so much. In truth his only interest is in how much he hates the local ECNL people. Pure vendetta and nothing else.
