Second playing in a local Men's league is a better idea. Again your kidding right. Talk about bad ideas. Mens leagues have a few guys that played in college maybe a few ex Pro's but mostly weekend hacks. You are setting up kids to get hurt and play poor competition.
the two teams that most recently won USYS nationals (before timbers academy existed) played in OPSL and got technically (as in technique) outplayed every weekend, and destroyed by several goals every time. Not that many hacks can actually play at that high a level.

      Wrong...fake news.

Those kids hammered the elite mens teams in the oregon classic in 2007 & 2008
      http://www.oregonadultsoccer.com/ore...c_archives.htm

Having teams that could barely get enough High School boys out during the high school season back then had a lot more to do with their results in the fall opsl ..when all the teams were are at full strength and could choose who they wanted to play the kiddies spanked the adults.

Sorry I just get tired of people posting absolute nonsense

Hacks mentioned are the men in the league trying to relive glory days with an axe to grind taking it out on a kid. If a man runs over a kid and gets a red card no big deal he doesn't play mens league for a week. They have nothing to lose by trying to show a kid he is a man and plays like a man.

Those teams played in OPSL because there was nothing else. There was no Academy league. If you are saying putting kids in an adult amateur league is better then an Academy league you need your head examined.

This has all been discussed before on this forum.

When Westside and Eastside started entering their boys in OPSL, they got smoked.

They got better as the years went by - that was the point. Please don't post Oregon Classic scores - that thing was always a crapshoot, either way.

Remember win the Timbers USL team lost to an OPSL team in the preseason? Down 1-0 at halftime, Timbers put in Hugo and other starters and couldn't bridge the gap.

By the way, guys like Scott Thompson played in the OPSL and Byron Alvarez played in the league in their Timbers off-season; Scott was below average technically in that league.

Again, you can't be serious? The DA program is far and away a better way to develop players then have them play club ball to 17 or 18 and them enter them in a Men's league when one maybe two team s are decent.

Please tell me that is not your solution to things

                  DA vs ODP

DA players are not allowed to participate in ODP.
DA players in RTC were not supposed to pay for it. All of those DA players got to play in RTC for free per US Soccer.

DA players can't do ODP. I wonder how many DA players were selected to play in the ODP pool? DA players could lose their elgibility and clubs will be repromended

I'm sorry your son didn't make the Pool. You sound like you are on tilt.

Looks like the kids smoked the OPSL best.

                        2 or 3 years running.

Correct, DA player were not supposed to do ODP/RTC.

Then US Soccer said only RTC if they didn't have to pay -- they all paid and no one got a refund.

US Soccer never put their foot down and players/players/clubs were given mixed messages.

So DA players went to Eugene and were selected for ODP and Friendship cup.

Friendship Cup conflicts with the final weekend of DA games.

                          The confusion and conflicts persist.

i actually do not not remember that, but I remember playing against Scot and Lee and Byron in OPSL. Lee hacked me down, but was gentlemanly about it.. lol. and Byron never scored against me.

DA Rosters are big enough they can easily move on without a few kids that weekend. It's important those kids stay in front of Timbers coaches since they will all be trying out there next year. If you are not in Timbers DA than ODP will be the only other way in at u15.

So much wrong with this. First, DA rosters at U12 are not big. 13 fulltime players and a couple developmental players. Second, roster movements are not easy in DA. More complicated than sharing players across OYSA rosters.

Third, if the only way on to U15 Timbers DA roster is ODP that is a big fail on the part of the Timbers. Would be business as usual, however.
