If you think it nonsense why comment? I think its great as it brings interest to our state and our kids. Do you do a risk assesment about driving to work ?
Of course I do. Just as you do.
Unless of course, you don't think there is any risk assessment towards staying in your lane, driving at the speed limit, using your turn signals, yielding right-of-way in accordance with the law, and so on.
It's just words until someone presents and signs an NLI.
It's easy to make these promises when you are 14 or when you are a coach not expecting the kid to show up for another four years.
Let's see how this works out when there is -
1. coaching change
2. serious ACL or other injury
3. another school comes along with a better offer
4. another player shows up who puts this kid in the back seat
My daughter just turned 13 at this time in 8th grade. This stuff is complete nonsense. Nonsense. Nonsense. Nonsense. On all sides.
Thats great news, if a top academic school shows interest in your kid you will tell them its nonsense and some other kid will get the help
Thanks in advance
Unless of course, you don't think there is any risk assessment towards staying in your lane, driving at the speed limit, using your turn signals, yielding right-of-way in accordance with the law, and so on.
But you do go to work- so even with all the risks you still drive.
My point is everyone knows the risks there is no need to come of as an A hole and list only the negative
This is a parent ego thing. Why would you allow your 8th grader to commit that early. Tell Nova coach to at least wait a year until this child finishes freshman year.
Yes because only a parent with the ego the size of TX would be pushing to get their kid committed this young and make sure it's on the club's site. If you knew the parent in this case you'd get it.
Regardless, committing this young is insanity. Having been through it I can say all players and colleges should wait until there's at least one full year of high school on the books, preferably even longer than that. So much can happen between now and February 1st 4 years from now - player's interests change, grades are above or below expectations (above creating better opportunities, below possibly resulting in an offer revocation or a player being stretched too much academically), interest in a particular major changes (as it does for practically everyone), coach changes (in which case the new coach is under no obligation to keep old promises; new coach might also be an azzhole you don't want to play for).
