Why did the thorns get such a bad draw. These games are not helpful.

When you market your league (GDA) as the path to the pros, and disparage kids who want to go to college and play soccer as somehow less committed or talented, and you have no meaningful history except for sandbagging, and you go to a COLLEGE showcase tournament, why would you possibly expect to get a good draw? Thorns parents have made it clear college isn't their goal. So save the good draws (which lead to good games and higher college coach attendance) for the players who actually want to play in college.

you've definitely hit on the right points here.
Hopefully college soccer offers something back to the girls who play, but NWSL offers very little back to the players, and makes the Thorns approach all the less attractive.

Look, you don't understand the brilliance of the move. You get the girls into a position to dominate by putting them against C teams from low divisions. That is utter brilliance. They run up three goal wins and ties and they look like giants.

Not true entirely. I know I have at least two teams that were placed in a more brackets that made calls to the tournament director and got bumped up to higher brackets. You can get it if you really want it.

Stop lying. This tournament had 700 plus teams on the girls side alone. Brackets weren't released until all of the scheduling was done. There is NO WAY they were moving games around because some pi**ant Oregon team felt like they should move up.

I'm no thorns fan and there are plenty of things to criticize them for - playing in OYSA with their superstar team, doing Beaverton as their summer showcase tournament, lying and saying TA clubs unanimously support players going to thorns - all lies and garbage. But criticizing them about their placement in Vegas is really stupid.

Stop lying. This tournament had 700 plus teams on the girls side alone. Brackets weren't released until all of the scheduling was done. There is NO WAY they were moving games around because some pi**ant Oregon team felt like they should move up.

You absolutely can call the director. Happens all the time. The big competitive tournaments will ignore you but showcases will listen.

These are fun trips. Vegas would be especially fun. If you can afford these trip for the kids at this age, why not? Who cares if they are in a low bracket. In fact I argue that is a lot more fun.
