Plus, his schtick got tiresome and eventually, THUSC lost a lot of players (either migrated away from the club) or just gave up on soccer completely.

Lots of "Tom Foolery" going on....when you are the boss and not much checking goes on, where expenses are concerned, easy to get a bit fast and loose with the rules and expectations.

Oh. I thought the fleecing was in reference to the new CU ECNL dude. I must have misread the post.

Like Tom, he picks favorites. When are we ever going to get professional coaches here in Oregon? The coaches here are so political - their "favorite" players typically have parents with fringe benefits. It's sickening.

The CU ECNL DOC is protected and has no accountability. Although all coaches in Oregon have no accountability. Parents can complain about bad coaches, but nothing happens as long as the board and president of these clubs protect the DOCs. Unfortunately, in the case of the CU ECNL DOC, the board members have daughters that play in the ECNL program, so they protect him. Their daughters got more playing time as soon as the new CU DOC for ECNL got hired. Many witnessed the sideline conversations he would have with these parents, so their daughters ended up getting more playing time as soon as he was hired.
Why do parents tolerate his behavior even though they know that if he were in a "real" corporate business setting, he would be fired on the spot? Politics is so heavy in Oregon soccer that coaches and DOCs have infallibility and they are protected. Parents, who have senior level executive positions in high-level jobs, bow down to these coaches. It's bizarre.

Same **** down there, just usually much bigger $$$ and more talent.

4 years later...this guy keeps destroying youth soccer one team at a time. Now in NorCal. Taking donations directly from parents for playing time, dating/hitting on moms and my favorite, showing up wasted to team meetings with kids. We need him gone!
