Originally posted by Unregistered View PostI agree. It's an accomplishment that the club should be proud. Having been around before the advent of the ECNL, I know there are teams outside the ECNL that were quite good. Syosset, who gave the Stars and Scorpions teams with National team players fits, comes to mind. And as we've seen, some ECNL clubs just aren't up to par.

U13 - 1st in NPL league play and must win Regionals to get to Nationals
U14 - Heading to Nationals
U15 - Heading to Nationals
U16 - Heading to Nationals
U18 - Heading to Nationals
Regardless of what league people like or don't like, this is a very impressive feat. It would be great for MA soccer if some of these teams could bring back a National Championship.
Congratulations NEFC!!

That is the source of NEFC's primary beef with the ECNL; not that it is a poor quality league. If it were, why would they keep seeking admission? For them, the issue is that it's a closed league and they continue to be on the outside looking in. That is what galls them to no end.

After that, geographic distribution of both member and applicant clubs within the ECNL conferences and divisions started to play a bigger role, as the league structure had to grow in such a way that paired Saturday / Sunday games could continue to be supported, with each club being able to manage travel to away weekends, and host home weekends for pairs of visiting clubs, while keeping distances between Sat and Sun games somewhat manageable for the visiting clubs. Once Stars and Scorps locked up Eastern MA, and with no other legitimate options in the area to pair NEFC with, wasn't the die was more or less cast?

Some of their teams are top notch right now for any league and FYI the JV league called NPL
is as good as ECNL at certain regional levels.

This is probably one of the best post explaining why NEFC is not in the ECNL. I do not think it is a conspiracy theory against NEFC, just poor timing. NEFC would not have even been this far along without the help of the Scorpion teams when BB came to NEFC. That was the game changer for both clubs. NEFC stock went up and Scorpions went down.

A little exercise such as checking the rosters of those teams BB "brought" to NEFC will automatically refute the idea that NEFC is successful because of those teams.
