I'm sure they wish the merger had the effect of increasing the talent pool, but the truth is, it doesn't change.
I would have to add that mergers in order to be succesful the participants have to be able
to work together and actually compliment each other. This group is a tick away from exploding!!!

I do agree with a lot of posters the girls side will not improve much at U16 and older next year due to the merger but believe the U15 and under teams with the addition of the Bolts, Doc and Mo's players will increase greatly. The current U13 team will be the most improved when they turn U14. FM, MK, DS teams combined to one. Also, players that went to Stars ECNL that Mo trained might come back now that he is with the Breakers. This team just became the destination team at this age group and players from other clubs might want to join in early before it is too late. This is the type of team that could take players away from NEFC and SSS too.
Then you wake up...Or try to serve Mo' and better Kool-Aid.

With convenient access to the Northshore and Metrowest now, the Breakers ECNL teams will be much better. The U16 will absolutely get some new strong players depending on who coaches it. The U15 and U14 teams next year are already good and just by adding MK's kids now they will become VERY good. This is a very smart strategy for Breakers.

Don't mean to come off smelling like the skunk who crashed the party, but there's nothing convenient about access to the Breakers ECNL south shore training grounds from the north shore. Not to say there aren't kids whose families may be willing to do it for a crack at ECNL, but it's not an easy trip. It's also possible that they'll name a more central location to train their ECNL and NPL teams, but that would begin to put added pressure on their south shore base. No easy solutions bringing groups of players together from opposite sides of metro Boston.

It's the Central location. Easy for South, North and Metro West. Details to come out soon. Opens up the club and league access to a lot of kids.

Maybe 3 players will help at DAP level
Rest are not any better than whats already at Bolts in Academy track
this is absolutely true just a straight fact. The kids on the scorpions short of a few players didn't play Academy all along for many reasons and those reasons don't change. Could some of those kids play Academy? Yes definitely. I'd say 5 could play legit and 2 of them at the revs.

Perhaps this time, BA is not really in charge. The Merger of a DAP and an ECNL club is great on many levels for these two clubs. First, the Bolts lost any ability to run a girls program even when the Kerr family was arouond. This last attempt was a superficial attempt as the Bolts Brass were still only interested in their academy teams. The DAP is still a big deal for the Boys teams and clubs....just ask GPS. With some hope, the Bolts will replace whoever they have in charge of the younger teams and non DAP teams.

For the girls, the Scorpions/Breakers will essentially take it over and gain some administrative help and regional access. The only way a better merger could have happened was for the bolts to merge with the stars....only the latter is not struggling like either of the other two. Now if the Revs were to really establish a full youth system.....even charge the non academy teams....and then merge with the Stars then that would be the envy of all in the region.

                          Appreciation of?

I don't believe that anyone really appreciates to what extent the bolts academy program is suffering in the W/L category. The best of there three PreAcademy teams is just under .500. The other two are miserable. All three academy teams are in the bottom of each of their age groups. The best of the bolts players are graduating this year. After that you will truly and openly see that BA and friends have destroyed a club's foundation. The merger with the scorpions was for salvation much the same way that south central merged with beachside.

BA has nothing to offer the club........not sure he ever did offer them anything up to now either....except a place for his kids to play....not to mention a place for current BOD's to play as well. Perhaps they should ask Okaroh to return..hahahahaha.

Like Okaroh's teams are doing so great! Last opportunity for his dream team to win the national championship.

this will only last this season because FM will change this next year.

Practice location will be a big issue (and needs to be announced)

I know that some parents are willing to drive kids all over creation, but...
like coaching assignments, field assignments need to be announced as well.
It would a huge bait and switch to sign on to ECNL or DAP only to find out the field is an extra 30 minutes farther.
If the idea is to draw talent from the densely populated greater Boston area, practices need to be mostly central. A player looking at Stars vs Breakers could easily rule out a trek down to the south shore. It will be a big issue.
The current south shore Breakers group will of course like things unchanged, but the merger is to make bar higher to make the roster and attract the players whom may otherwise be of quality to head off to stars, no??
