OA will be in the hunt in D2; Medway is always strong and will contend in D3

Please name the dominant teams that didn't 'graduate several'. The point is that BCH had good depth last year and a strong contingent of players moving up from JV.

        Needham High Soccer Coach Announced

Needham announced new Coach today. DB retired in March, and Athletic Director put the Head Coach job out for bid. JS has been the Assistant Coach for many years, and, when DB fell ill last year, JS took the team over and brought the team to win the D1 State Championship. JS brought Needham to 2 State Championships in the past 3 years. JS was acting Head Coach, had co-coached for many years, and earned the Head Coaching position. Surprised the Head Coaching position even went out for bid when DB retired.

The Coaching job was given to the Freshman Coach, a math teacher at the High School. He was a Bolts Coach for a young kid's team for a few years, and a volunteer Coach at BU for 1 year. Teaching credentials took precedence over coaching background, skills and success. True politics at its best!

        Best of luck to JS!

          As for JS

He seemed to be taking on the head coach role or at least doing most of the heavy lifting for the last several years. Now that DB era is over so is that arrangement
Not sure how politically correct that was

Cant dispute the results as they are Champions but they also "had the horses"

Probably have a some good players in the pipeline in Needham so we will see how JO does

Bye the Way JO is very qualified

I don't think OA can come close to matching last seasons Cinderella run. Medway will challenge Foxboro in division 3. Holbrook was the 1 seed in division 4 south last season and will be at the top again.

Maybe JS wants to watch MS and KS play more. Could be a simple as that. Otherwise seems like he deserved the job, has pretty much run things for quite a while now.

JS didn't get the recognition that he deserved over the past few years. Needham is losing out now.

JO is very qualified and has run some great camps after the Kerr family headed south. His development of younger kids is excellent. The question is whether or not he can coach the older kids.
Needham was looking in the long-term and hopes that JO will be around for awhile.
One would wonder why JS could not have been given the head coach job with JO as the assistant.

I think everyone would agree that would have been the right course of action for JS to be head coach with JO as assistant coach.

The fact he is full time teaching at the school
                      IS the key difference

Maybe JS can be JO's assistant

I don't think you can take someone that has been acting as a head coach for years and have them work for the freshman coach. Good theory though!

Summer ball starting up soon. Silver Lake, Braintree, and Norton leagues. The fall will be here soon.

Franklin couldn't even get past Silver Lake last year with their seniors so I doubt they improve
