Yes it is broken. We desperately need a multi party system. Having multiple points of view with no clear dominance forces compromise. But for now this is what we have, and it's the right that always votes as a block, even when faced with a WH occupant who breaks the law, is destroying the environment, destroying vital international relationships while cozying up to dictators, blown up trade deals with no new and improved ones to replace them, has handed the middle east to Russia ,and launched our national debt into the stratosphere.

I would argue that the two party system could use another party, but that is not the inherent problem with American politics and governance. The problem within our political system is that we voters continue to send the wrong people into office. We do that because we are bought out by corporate money and lobbyists. The corruption in the systems stems from the money that is used to influence issues and outcomes.

We desperately need to move to public financing of all federal level elections and the elimination of lobbying. Term limits would go a long way to help as well.

Finally, we need an informed electorate. Say what you will about the Democratic Socialists and their views, but they understand this and that's what their primary focus is about. Educating the electorate.

Sorry but I meant to add I agree with the rest- get $ out of our elections, try and get people to actually learn about the issues and be active participants. It can happen but not in today's charged environment. Plus, Congress is the one to vote on campaign finance reform and neither side really wants the gravy train to go away.
